Department Overview:
Wealth Management Investment Resources produces macro-to-micro research and analysis to help FAs build their practices and manage their clients' portfolios.
•Provide direction on investment strategy
•Publish market related commentary, including investment themes, actionable ideas, and "white papers"
•Design and monitor asset allocation models and single security model portfolios / baskets
•Perform asset manager due diligence on traditional and alternative funds
•Provide research coverage on Municipals, ETFs, CEFs, and Technical Research
•Partner with Advisors to understand investments and help them manage relationships with clients and close business with prospects; manage field initiatives including road shows, conference calls, summits
Core functions:
• Advise large, sophisticated family offices with respect to alternative investments, with a particular focus on private equity, co-investments, and direct investments
• Perform initial and ongoing investment due diligence on alternative investment strategies with a focus on private investments including buyout, venture capital, credit and related sub-strategies
• Source unique investment opportunities for ultra-high net worth clients including emerging managers, niche alternative investment opportunities, and co-invest/direct investments
• Provide advice and recommendations to investment committees and clients at large, sophisticated family offices
• Prepare written research reports and commentaries on fund managers and market trends impacting alternative investment strategies; deliver such content in presentations to large, sophisticated family offices
Ongoing activities include:
• Interact with internal teams including financial advisors and investment officers facing clients, as well as Operational Due Diligence, Product Management, Sales, Legal, and Compliance as needed.
• Support a team atmosphere including idea sharing, learning, and back-up.
• Remain abreast of industry trends, regulatory matters, and market events impacting funds, managers, clients, and the industry.
• Adhere to all applicable policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Skills required:
• 10-15 years of job experience in the financial markets with experience in alternative investment research with material client-facing responsibilities
• Knowledge of various alternative investment strategies within the private investment universe. An existing network of relationships with alternative asset managers is strongly desired.
• Experience working with family offices is preferred.
• Looking for candidate that has a strong knowledge of alternatives and the desire to expand their skill set across alternative investment strategies and products.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Undergraduate degree required
• CFA, and/or CAIA not required but viewed favorably
