Position:  Assistant Portfolio Manager/Portfolio Manager

Gray Equity Management is an independent, privately-owned wealth management firm affiliated with the regional accounting firm, Gray, Gray & Gray.  Gray Equity Management specializes in comprehensive investment advice tailored to the complex needs and objectives of our entrepreneurial and high-net-worth clientele. 

We seek a bright and ambitious investment professional to join our growing team.  We offer a compelling opportunity to have an immediate impact as part of a client-centric team in a rapidly growing practice.  The candidate will support the firm’s client portfolio management process with direct client responsibilities and participate in the management of the firm’s investment direction.  The successful hire will gain valuable experience in private client advisory, firm operations, portfolio management and investment selection.     

Duties & Responsibilities          

Primary Role:  Client Portfolio Management and Firm Operations

  • Play a vital role on a client portfolio management team with primary (new clients) and secondary (transitioning legacy clients) responsibilities servicing a growing list of high-net-worth clients
  • Lead and/or participate in growth of the client base through prospect meetings, investment policy interviews, development of investment strategy and delivery of customized investment policy statements tailored to address each client/prospect unique objectives and considerations
  • Deliver exceptional client experience through proactive client service, adherence to routine client meetings and discussions, timely delivery of client communication and follow-up, management and oversight of ad-hoc client tasks and projects
  • Contribute to the growth of the firm through strategic internal and external marketing initiatives
  • Participation in firm operational initiatives and administrative activities related to reporting, trading, client-service, communication, and marketing

Secondary Role:  Investment Management

  • Effectively articulate the firm investment philosophy and portfolio management approach, to the firm’s high-net-worth clientele and prospects
  • Implement the firm’s investment philosophy and portfolio management approach, to develop a tailored and strategic investment portfolio for clients and prospects
  • Support the investment research priorities and manager due-diligence efforts as set by the Chief Investment Officer and Investment Committee

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual dedicated to superior client service with a passion for investing with sound judgment, discretion, and moral character.  We are seeking a self-starter who can work well both independently, and in a team setting, who possesses the following attributes:

  • Strong academic achievements with a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or a related field
  • CFA/CFP designation, or progress towards, strongly preferred
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
  • Strong presence, with ability to interact with senior leadership
  • Ability to develop and maintain a strong client relationship
  • 4+ Years of Experience in the Financial Services industry
