The Role Responsibilities

Stress Test Review & Challenge is an independent review team sitting within the Enterprise Risk Management function. The team's mandate is to provide assurance to senior management and our Group regulator (Prudential Regulation Authority) of the quality of enterprise stress test deliverables. Areas of responsibility encompass all aspects of stress testing including portfolio projections, model risk, management actions, etc. The team reviews and challenges the various stress testing outputs, such as scenario design; credit, market, operational and liquidity risks; business volumes and margins; and capital, among others. Enterprise stress tests comprise those required by the Group's management and Board to inform Risk Appetite and those required by the PRA, including ICAAP, Bank of England's annual concurrent stress test (ACS), recovery plan stress test, reverse stress test and others as required.

The specific purpose of this role will be to support the review of business volumes and margins (BVM), liquidity risk, capital stress test workstreams. However, members of the team are also exposed to other workstreams and are expected to expand beyond their initial areas of expertise.

  • Applicable in the same manner as above responsibilities.
Processes
  • Support the independent review of Asset Liability Management, Liquidity and Capital stress testing.
  • Review end-to-end stress testing processes including methodologies, assumptions, models, judgmental overlays and documentation and form opinions on the intuitiveness of stress testing results.
  • Understand knock on consequences of ALM related decisions on other areas of the Balance Sheet.
  • Actively participate in the judgemental approach of balance sheet composition and income in stress scenarios.
  • Review ALM and recovery plans decisions on liquidity and capital metrics
  • Participate in projects on an ad hoc basis.
Risk Management
  • Applicable in the same manner as the Process section.
Governance
  • Keep up to date on regulatory requirements and ensure that regulator's feedback is being addressed.

Key Stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the enterprise stress testing process.
  • Keep up to date on regulatory requirements and ensure that regulator's feedback is being addressed.
Other Responsibilities
  • Participate in projects on an ad hoc basis.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Prior experience in asset liability management, liquidity or capital role.
  • Advanced understanding of corporate treasury, balance sheet and capital management.
  • A degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Finance, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Business, Accounting).
  • Good interpersonal & oral communication skills and a team player.
  • An ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Flexibility and openness to new challenges.
  • Prior involvement ICAAP stress test, recovery plan, Pillar 2A.
  • Exposure to model development process, model use and model risk management.
  • Professional qualifications (CFA, ACA, ACCA etc) would be considered as an asset.
  • Direct experience in Bank of England stress testing exercises.
  • Understanding of the Treasury Capital and Recovery Planning processes.
  • Confident self-motivated person with a high level of drive and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
