What we're building

We now need a Fund Manager to support the transformation and the future growth of the business within the Asset Management function, so it can support Canada Life's Individual and Wealth businesses as well as other Great West group companies through the management of their general account portfolios, and providing collective fund solutions to third party customers in both Europe and North America.
Job summary

• To assist in the investment management of the multi-asset fund range
• To support dealing in funds
• To support sales and distribution of the multi-asset portfolios in order to grow assets under management

What you'll do

• Assist in managing the £3bn multi-asset portfolio range, within limits agreed by the Chief Investment Officer, and in full accordance with statutory compliance requirements, in order to achieve superior relative returns.
• Research and keep abreast of economic, political and valuation developments in all major markets, by asset class, region, and industry sectors.
• Monitor existing and potential investment solutions employed in the fund range in order to undertake suitable asset allocation and investment solution decisions to maintain or improve the quality of existing portfolios.
• Report on fund activity to enable the audience to gain a good understanding of the philosophy, strategy and tactics underlying the management of each fund.
• Supervise and when necessary execute the daily dealing in funds process, including liaising with other teams including Fixed Interest, Equities, Property, Governance, Distribution and Operations
• Support marketing and promotion of multi-asset and contribute content to website and events
• Continue own development, especially investment management skills, in line with the Division's objectives.

Who you are

• The role requires understanding of the expected risk, return and liquidity characteristics of all the major global investment classes - equities across the global economic regions, fixed income - at different investment grades, property - both quoted and unquoted, and alternatives, as well as the correlations between them and their behaviour through the investment cycle
• Qualified to trade in equities or fixed income at the security level
• Experience of trading in funds
• Strong understanding of economics and geopolitics
• Sufficient experience to confer immediate recognition as a fund manager by the relevant regulatory authority

Qualifications

Essential

• First or second class bachelors degree or higher
• CFA
• Experience working in a multi-asset or multi-region fixed interest fund management role

Desirable

• Experience of managing multi-manager fund-of-funds
