Responsibilities

Lead the team and drive engagement with stakeholders (including regulators/banks) regarding development of various aspects of Singapore's merchant banking / debt capital markets activities, including regulations/policies/procedures.

Professional adviser on issues concerning investment banking, and will be responsible for providing well-founded and documented advice on strategy and other aspects of investment banking.

Responsible for successful underwriting of securities (Bonds) and acting as BRLM (Book Running Lead Manager) and/or as a member of syndicate

Marketing securities to institutional investors

Onboarding new customers for the Bank

Coordination and liaising with other Investment banks and Head Office

Sourcing for local mandates on new bond issuance

Prepare and implement the strategic and annual plans and ensure that these are formally updated on a regular basis.

Utilise the services of third party providers to achieve the strategic direction. Including establishing guidelines to support when outsourcing may be used and perform monitoring and control activities to oversee external service providers.

Ensure that the legal interests of State Bank of India, Singapore are protected and pursued. Incorporate responsible considerations into investment banking activities by contributing to the development of good international practice and corporate governance.

Maintain contact with similar banks and other institutions and represent a center of expertise in the fields of responsible investment banking.

Handling of regulatory submissions, interactions, etc related to the department.

Giving regular feedback to the top management on the latest development in the market.

Responsible for the development of non-INR denominated/Masala bonds/other debt capital market issuance and underwriting business of the SBI, Singapore. This includes:
  • Ensuring SBI, Singapore is well capitalised to cover all underwriting commitments
  • Identifying the gaps in capabilities in 'end to end' handling of non-INR bond issuance transaction and undertake all measures including hiring of employees, application for additional licenses and contract with third party to mitigate the identified gaps
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory obligations -In-depth understanding of the regulatory requirements in Singapore including capital requirements & MAS Regulations, guidelines and notices

Requirements:

MBA/CFA with Tertiary Level Education in Economics, or Finance

Should have necessary CMFAS certifications

Minimum 5-7 years' experience in listing of Bonds or with Exchanges, securities dealing and corporate finance advisory. Relevant experience in merchant banking/debt capital markets within banking, or with large institutes

About 6 years' experience in treasury/securities

Experience of leading a branch/office whose service offerings include capital market advisory services to customers

In-depth experience in accounting in investment bank, IFRS, Indian GAAP, XBRL and Singapore GAAP

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Numerate, analytical and comfortable working with large amounts of data in Excel.

Driven, self-starter, adaptable, , able to guide juniors, multi-task well in a fast-paced and demanding environment

Good team player with the ability to build meaningful relationships with all stakeholders, customers and senior management .
