Junior Analyst - Medina Singh Partners

Medina Singh Partners is a small and mid-cap focused long/short equity hedge fund based in Los Angeles.  Our process relies on highly investigative fundamental research to generate non-consensus insights, resulting in a differentiated and concentrated investment portfolio.   We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team in Los Angeles as a Junior Analyst.  The Junior Analyst will primarily be responsible for constructing financial models, conducting due diligence, and supporting senior investment team members in various aspects of the fundamental research process.  Secondary responsibilities include preparing investment presentations and support functions for portfolio monitoring and client reporting.

One to two years of prior buyside experience is valued but not required.  Ideal candidates must share a passion for value investing; demonstrate excellent quantitative and analytical skills; and display a willingness to work in a small entrepreneurial environment.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Extensive fundamental research on companies, industries, products, and markets

• Ability to obtain information from many different and often unconventional resources to develop logical conclusions (investment thesis) to situations without a straightforward answer

• Conducting in-person and phone conversations with company management teams

• Writing letters and investment memos

• Creating presentation materials

• Generating reports for the investment team, investors, and prospects

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least one year of professional experience in finance and/or accounting related roles

• Strong knowledge of accounting & finance

• Basic knowledge of financial modeling and valuation methods

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong work ethic with willingness to working independently including weekends

• Passion for value investing and learning about businesses

• Resourcefulness and a desire to think critically as opposed to merely processing tasks

• College degree from a four year institution
