As the Corporate Finance Manager at Hala, you will play a critical role in shaping our long-term financial systems and processes. You will be responsible for executing the organization?s corporate finance function, including overseeing financial planning and forecasting, performing quantitative analysis of operational and financial data, assisting with corporate governance, contributing to corporate strategy development, and supporting cash and treasury management. You will closely work with Hala?s CFO and
COO. As our first strategic finance position, you will have the opportunity to define and expand the role, and play an integral part in designing Hala?s financial planning processes and procedures from scratch.

What you?ll do:

In The Area Of Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Manage Hala?s corporate planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities, including the design and development of annual fiscal budgets, rolling 12-month forecasts, headcount plans, and long-term financial models.
  • Perform quantitative analysis of Hala?s operational and financial data to determine how to most effectively utilize company resources, improve profitability, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Assist senior management with special projects (e.g., strategic analyses, new product P&L projections) .* Develop financial models and analytical tools to inform analysis.
  • Design, maintain, and update Hala?s financial dashboard and KPIs; prepare managerial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing financial data.
  • Support Hala?s accountant in developing quarterly and annual financial statements.
     

In The Area Of Corporate Governance & Administration

  • Provide support to Hala?s COO & CFO on corporate governance matters, including creating agendas for board meetings, developing board materials, collating and distributing board packs, liaising with relevant directors, working with legal counsel to produce and distribute board minutes, arranging for signatures, and following up on any post-meeting actions required.
  • Support the COO and CEO in the administration of Hala?s International Advisory Council meetings.
  • Create and own a corporate governance calendar; track and manage deadlines.
  • *Organize and manage corporate governance and legal documents and files, including but not limited to incorporation documents, board meeting materials, and general counsel correspondence.
  • Support corporate tax compliance (e.g., federal and state filings, registrations) as needed.
     

In The Area Of Treasury

  • Work with Hala?s accountant to optimize cash management between different accounts and entities in order to optimize day-to-day business operations.
  • Manage working capital and short-term assets to optimize liquidity; determine appropriate investment/borrowing strategies.
  • Analyze and manage Hala?s foreign exchange risk.
  • Ensure forecasts and long-term financial plans are aligned with cash, working capital, liquidity, and foreign exchange risk management strategies.
     

In The Area Of Corporate Strategy And Development

  • Assist with fundraising strategy, including developing marketing materials and supporting financial models.
  • Assist Hala?s leadership in ensuring that Hala is always due-diligence ready; support due diligence requests.
  • Manage Hala?s capitalization table to ensure it?s accurate and up to date; evaluate current capitalization management software and potential alternatives. Manage Hala?s employee stock options plans and documents.
  • Oversee the annual 409a valuation process. Liaise with selected service providers to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Support Hala?s COO in investor relations management, including investor updates, reports, and other materials.
     

What You Have

  • A bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, or other quantitative fields.
  • 3+ years of work experience in financial planning & analysis, investment banking, consulting, and/or corporate finance. More experienced candidates are encouraged to apply. As a startup, we have some flexibility with role titles.
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills and attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques, as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projections.
  • Excellent capabilities with MS Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Experience with accounting software packages, such as QuickBooks and, preferably, other midsize enterprise accounting systems.
  • Understanding of accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS).
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
