Department Profile

The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.

Team Profile

Funding Controllers is responsible for controlling and providing business support for Treasury and is part of the Global Corporate Controllers (GCC) organization. Within Asia, Funding Controllers comprises of the following core groups: Liquidity, Investments & Funding Controllers (LIFC) and Liquidity Funding Controllers (LFC). Pre 2008 crisis, funding was easy to obtain and not priced into trades due to ample liquidity in the markets. Post 2008, the landscape looks dramatically different where the economy and regulators have put a spotlight onto Funding and Liquidity making GCC both a focus and growth area.

An opportunity is open in the LFC role which provides business support, analysis and has ownership of key Treasury related financial information on behalf of Corporate Treasury. The role is responsible for analyzing liquidity metrics including ILST, NSFR and LCR to ensure adherence to internal and external limits, and participation in key Treasury initiatives. LFC primary client is Corporate Treasury but also interact closely with Legal Entity Controllers (LEC), Global Product Controllers (GPC) and Operations. The role provides an excellent opportunity into Morgan Stanley's core businesses and Balance Sheet with exposure to all products traded.

Primary Responsibilities

- Participate in NPAs and PRGs that impacts liquidity
- Review of daily, weekly and monthly ILST reporting
- Review and implement changes to ILST assumptions including UAT in liquidity systems
- Provide liquidity impact analysis on new initiatives driven by ISG
- Analyze non-bank liquidity movements and impact to Asia Pacific
- MSBAL DSP submission
- Ad hoc queries from Treasury and management

Qualifications:

Skills required

- Analytical mindset and good problem solving skills
- Attention to detail, accuracy and strong sense of urgency
- Strong communicator with ability to interact with senior stakeholders
- Risk aware and good guardianship skills
- Ability to critically evaluate processes and controls and make suggestions for improvement
- Qualified with relevant Professional Qualification (i.e. Accounting or CFA)
