As ATB Wealth’s next Investor Relations Manager you will act as an integral ecosystem partner within ATB Investment Management (ATBIM) and ATB Wealth by assisting in the development of strategies and initiatives to promote the investment fund manager and its proprietary products (The Compass Portfolios and ATBIS Pools) to the distribution channels of the ATB Wealth business. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Investor Relations the individual will help influence the direction of various projects and strategies by developing, delivering and maintaining analysis, commentary, information and advice on our existing, and potentially future, suite of investment products. The incumbent will also play a key role in/and provide additional bandwidth to assist in the delivery of the broader ATB Wealth strategy and in standing up the Investment Fund Management (IFM) part of the ATB Wealth product eco-system. 

 

 

The activities associated with this role are designed to raise awareness of the suite of investment products managed by ATBIM through the development, maintenance and delivery of a content strategy. This will be achieved by developing a deep technical understanding of the product shelf,  by translating and distilling complex investment themes into simple, easy to understand collateral (e.g. pitchbooks, monthly/quarterly fund updates, ad-hoc presentations and other thematic content). This is all brought to life via inspired story-telling, educational workshops and the development of deep relationships with key stakeholder groups. 

ATBIM is part of ATB Wealth and currently manages ~$17bn in assets across its 10 mutual funds.

 


Main Accountabilities:

  • Develop, build and maintain an investment fund(s) content strategy for the different distribution channels and key stakeholders.

     

  • Maintain and develop the suite of investment fund analytics (e.g. performance, risk, attribution analysis)

     

  • Keep abreast of industry news and events that have an actual or perceived impact on proprietary products.

     

    Work closely with the portfolio managers to stay current on developments and evolving themes within the investment funds that have the ability to impact clients, advisors, and other stakeholders. 

     

    Effective translation of the sub-advisor process and strategy behind our sub-advisory model, and explain how our sub-advisors make decisions and respond to market themes.

     

    Develop messaging, in conjunction with portfolio managers,  to support advisors in translating the complexity of the investment world, to simple and digestible information.

     

    Provide research and content on investment product developments.  

     

    Support, and provide back up to the Senior Manager, Investor Relations in the wholesaling activities associated with the proprietary funds, by:

     

    • Strategically position the voice of the investment funds, while wholesaling investment information (investment philosophy and value proposition of each fund) that educates advisors, clients and other stakeholders on how portfolio management decisions are made.

       

      Establish and build relationships with key stakeholder groups, including the distribution channel (financial advisors, investment counsellors, investment solutions team) and portfolio managers.

       

      Engage in and/or host new advisor on-boarding sessions, as required, to introduce the ATBIM product shelf and share existing resources.

       

      Participate in the planning, organizing and hosting of ‘client’ events, including conferences, live streams etc.

       

What you bring to the table: 

 

  • 7 to 10 years of relevant, professional experience. Specific experience from within investment/wealth management, investment/consultant relations, mutual fund business development is highly desired

     

    CFA and/or CIPM designation (or advanced progress towards) is highly desired

     

    University degree in finance, economics, business is required

     

    A detail-oriented eye for reviewing and creating large data sets to be ultimately used in fund reporting on a recurring basis. 

     

    Thorough knowledge of the investment industry (structures, products, trends), with particular emphasis on diversified investment portfolios primarily using managed products (mutual funds, managed account programs, pooled funds) 

     

    Excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and an aptitude for building great relationships with multiple stakeholders  (effective communication to the field, which includes many seasoned financial advisors, is critical to success) 

     

    Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

     

    Quick thinker, business savvy, naturally curious and meticulous attention to detail 

     

    Ability to work autonomously in a distributed workforce 

     

    Experience in client-facing roles would be a definite asset 

     

    Experience of building and maintaining up to date asset class, performance and risk data for investment products.
