Our team of over 250 multi-asset investment professionals manages a range of pooled vehicles, model portfolios, and customized mandates for a diversified client base. Currently, MASS manages over $640 billion in assets and has a strong presence in San Francisco, New York, London and throughout Asia Pacific.

The Manager Research team in MASS is looking for an experienced researcher for a role that focuses on liquid fixed income investment strategies, globally. In this role you will join a high profile, successful, fast growing and multifaceted business that will provide extensive exposure to BlackRock and third-party fixed income investment managers, as well as significant interaction with BlackRock multi-manager investment teams across client segments.
Responsibilities:
  • Independently and in teams research and evaluate investment opportunities and strategies with a focus on liquid fixed income strategies globally
  • Make well-researched recommendations on the asset class opportunities and tactics and the investment managers best able to execute on these
  • Collaborate closely with BlackRock multi-manager investments teams in anticipating demand for investment strategies, make allocation recommendations
  • Active ownership of recommended investment strategies and the relationship with the respective investment managers, including negotiation of commercial and operational terms
  • Participate in the design and ongoing management of portfolios with well-researched proposals for strategic investments
  • Document research findings from initial due diligence and ongoing monitoring
  • Regularly prepare reports summarizing manager performance and portfolio positioning
  • Stay up to date about products and trends in the investment management industry
  • Work with Manager Research colleagues and Leadership to line up and execute research pipeline
  • Represent BlackRock and Manager Research in client meetings and to the investment industry


Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience and success in conducting investment, manager, and operational research on investment managers that provide fixed income strategies (ideally, municipal /mortgage experience)
  • Extensive knowledge of and network in the investment management community
  • Strong cross team and firm relationship building skills, capable of adapting style of communication to the audience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics/statistics, or a related field,
  • MBA/CFA preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Outstanding analytical capabilities, which form a crucial part of our research process,
  • Ability and willingness to travel if required, to destinations globally
  • Ability to work independently, while also acting collaboratively as a great team member in our world-wide team
  • Experience working in a global environment
  • Ability to independently manage schedule to support a global business model
