Department Overview:
Wealth Management Investment Resources produces macro-to-micro research and analysis to help FAs build their practices and manage their clients' portfolios.
•Provide direction on investment strategy
•Publish market related commentary, including investment themes, actionable ideas, and "white papers"
•Design and monitor asset allocation models and single security model portfolios / baskets
•Perform asset manager due diligence on traditional and alternative funds
•Provide research coverage on Municipals, ETFs, CEFs, and Technical Research
•Partner with Advisors to understand investments and help them manage relationships with clients and close business with prospects; manage field initiatives including road shows, conference calls, summits

J ob Description:
The Portfolio Analytics and Cross-Asset Strategy (PACS) team within Morgan Stanley's Wealth Management Investment Resources (WMIR) division develops and applies disciplined, systematic approaches to construct portfolios. Using evidence-driven frameworks and other quantitative methods to analyze opportunities and recommend tactical exposures, the team supports the Global Investment Committee (GIC) and advisors across the investment process: strategic, tactical and dynamic asset allocation; active-passive decisions; manager selection and portfolio construction. As a cross-asset market strategist, responsibilities require the ability to analyze and simplify investment ideas and market movements in order to provide tactical advice for Morgan Stanley financial advisors to follow and share with clients.

The team seeks an analytical and solutions-oriented individual with multi-asset knowledge, including equities, fixed income, derivatives and FX to be a key contributor on the team. The role requires understanding of financial markets and their key drivers and a high degree of technical competence, fundamental market knowledge and writing ability. The candidate will work side-by-side with key members of the Global Investment Committee and senior management throughout WMIR, and will get exposure to a wide assortment of investment product areas (individual equities, ETFs, Managed Products, Fixed Income, Alternative Investments, etc.).

This multi-faceted role will include ownership of several key team initiatives. First, the candidate will oversee the research support and contributions to the "Global Investment Committee (GIC) Weekly" publication and the accompanying slide deck, the "GIC Weekly Digest," in coordination with Wealth Management's Chief Investment Officer. Furthermore, the candidate will take ownership for several ETF portfolios, which implement the GIC's investment views or those from the team's portfolio construction frameworks. The ETF portfolio effort includes preparing update notes and monthly reviews and representing the portfolios in monthly conference calls and ad-hoc interactions with Advisors. The candidate will have opportunity to contribute with the PACS team's other publications and research initiatives, meant to support Advisors' decisionmaking across the portfolio construction process.

Qualifications:

•Bachelor's or Master's Degree
•5-7 years of experience analyzing financial markets
•Buy-side or sell-side experience is a plus
•Series 7 and 66 preferred, CFA is a plus
•Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
•Effective written and verbal communication skills
•Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm for a culture of ownership
•Understanding of financial markets and their key drivers
•Multi-asset knowledge, including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and FX
•Experience with market data research systems (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar, etc.)
•Strong technical skills, including Advanced Excel Modeling and PowerPoint skills; experience with Matlab or SAS is a plus
•Thrives in a collaborative environment and exhibits strong interpersonal skills
•Solid organizational skills and ability to work across multiple function
•Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong business judgment
