Portfolio Head, Portfolio Design Team

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Portfolio Head, Portfolio Design Team is a senior role within the Investment Team. The primary responsibilities are leading and managing the Portfolio Design Team and providing strategic input into the Fund's overall investment strategy. The role requires a wide range of investment and management skills, as it includes responsibility for three teams within the Portfolio Design Team, namely: The Asset Allocation Team; the Quantitative Solutions Team; and the Portfolio Execution Team. A key focus of the role is enabling the ongoing development of each team to meet the needs of a growing and sophisticated total portfolio approach to investing.

The role requires significant people management and strategic leadership responsibilities, including managing multiple direct reports and setting the broader strategy for the Portfolio Design Team. It also involves providing strong contributions to the Investment Leadership Team and fulfilling a leadership role more broadly across the Investment Team and organisation.

A confident communicator, you can liaise at all levels with Executives, senior managers and staff, as well as external parties in a credible and comfortable style. Your thinking is flexible and creative, and you pride yourself on your commercial, financial and strategic acumen. You have a high level of integrity together with strong personal and business ethics, sound judgement and a commitment to transparency and accountability.

You have strong investment, financial market and portfolio construction knowledge, particularly in relation to asset classes at an institutional level. You understand key quantitative tools that are used for constructing portfolios and the key drivers of asset class returns/risk and a proven ability in designing portfolios from an asset class perspective. Your understanding of derivatives and your experience working with implementation teams will ensure investment strategies are efficiently put in place.

With extensive experience in a senior investment role within superannuation, fund management/and or asset consulting, you tertiary qualified in a finance, investment, economics or related discipline and CFA qualified.
