DUTIES
- Municipal Trader / Portfolio Manager
- Assist with credit research and further develop valuation models
- Help analyze the impact of specific market events on portfolio holdings, ie: Pandemic, Further Reductions of Sales Tax Revenue, California Wildfires, Hurricanes, Trade War
- Portfolio Analysis – assist with commentary regarding, sector allocation, duration, bond structure, geographic and credit concentration etc.
- Write sections and help edit the quarterly newsletter covering recent market events and express the group’s market perspective and strategy
- Assist with monthly and quarterly client customized reporting
- One off projects that require creative solutions
- Discuss credit, investment strategy options and perform market reviews
- Assist with research meetings
- Work on swap opportunities and crossover transactions
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively engages prospects and clients to build relationships, identify needs, and review investment goals
- Cultivates and develops client relationships
- Develops investment recommendations with the Financial Advisor and prepares reports and plans that align with client goals
- Takes accountability for optimizing business practices while adhering to best business ethics and practices
- Seeks opportunities to grow business by capitalizing on Firm initiatives
- Focuses on building strong relationships with corporate departments and strategic partners
- Provides leadership and coordination on strategic business planning and development and implementation of strategies
- May utilize knowledge, experience, and expertise obtained through the CFP or CFA qualification process, to lead a comprehensive discovery analysis that identifies differentiating information and variables to be used in the financial planning process
- May allocate work among a team of employees
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Seven years or more of trading / portfolio management
- Series 7, 63 and 65 or Series 7 and 66 is preferred but not required
- Four-year college degree required
- Advanced degree preferred or professional certification preferred (e.g. CFA, former attorney, CPA, extensive background in financial services)
- Minimum of 10 years of post-high school education and/or work experience in a field relevant to the position
- Additional product licenses may be required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Financial industry and product knowledge
- Evidence of strong leadership skills or previous supervisory experience
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of applicable compliance rules and regulations and firm policies
- Proficient in applicable software applications, including Bloomberg
- Financial industry and trading experience
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
