ECIs are hired globally, domiciled out of our Boston, London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo offices. Interested candidates should have geographic flexibility.

In the first couple of years in the role, ECIs will have the opportunity to rotate across the Investment Platform, within and between the Investment Research, Investment Boutiques, Investment Strategy and Investment Science groups. Typically, rotations are approximately 12 months in length however the duration, nature, and number of rotations will vary considerably based on investor needs, fit, and the participants' skills and interests.

Examples of the nature of the work include:

  • Developing & communicating investment ideas in spoken & written form
  • Creating visualizations and dashboard views using various data sets

THE PROGRAMME

The ECI Programme is a multi-year rotational programme for up to five years. After rotating, participants may be placed in a longer-term (>1 year) assignment with an investment team. Some programme participants may spend up to 24 months in their first rotation and based on their experience and our needs, may be more closely aligned with one asset class. An ECIs career path during and after the five-year period is based upon individual skill, organizational needs, personal interest and future potential. Some ECIs pursue graduate studies upon completion of the Programme.

The Programme offers a unique opportunity for those individuals who are passionate about and are seeking to embark on a career in investment research and investing. The successful candidates will join an in-house training curriculum focused on developing accounting, financial statement analysis, and financial modeling skills, as well as providing broad exposure to the investors and investment landscape at Wellington Management. This will take place ahead of the first rotation. Supplemental training and career coaching will be provided on a continuous basis throughout each participant's tenure with the Programme along with mentorship from experienced investors and peers. In addition, participants will be required to pursue the CFA exam (covered through our Tuition Reimbursement benefit) to further their financial acumen.
