Senior Analyst, Institutional Investment Manager Research

DeMarche is seeking a highly skilled due diligence analyst of investment manager research. The individual will be an investment subject matter expert in two or more domestic or global investment strategies with wide exposure to other strategies. Ideally, the candidate will possess 4 or more years of experience as a high performer executing the generally acceptable and essential responsibilities of a due diligence investment analyst in investment firms that are based in the United States.

The position’s focus is to provide a lead role with the depth, breadth, complexity and quantity of due diligence analytics for DeMarche. The role works closely supporting the investment traditional and alternatives committees of DeMarche and the Head of Research. Duties include off-site and on-site due diligence of investment firms and support of consultants, clients or other parties with special projects.

Essential Competencies:

Areas of investment competence include 4 or more categories: hedge funds, registered investment vehicle, marketable fund of funds, separate accounts, private equity, real estate, real assets, private credit and private debt.

Areas of required due diligence expertise: identifying and collecting relevant materials, evaluating and monitoring market opportunity, valuation and monitoring investment management firms, assessing investment managers roles and expertise, identifying and monitoring investment philosophies of firms, evaluating and communicating vehicle structures and terms, constructing a written assessment of findings and defending analyses to an investment committee.

Areas of required other talents: Analytics work within the past 5 years with alternative investments (e.g. private equities and hedge funds), plus work with various traditional investments; public speaking with large and small technical groups; training and mentoring new and junior analysts; exhibition of professional skepticism and curiosity in the practice of due diligence.

Preferred Industry Credentials: Chartered Financial Analyst or Chartered Alternatives Investment Analyst

Other Information:

  • This is a position that works full-time from our Kansas City or Chicago offices; it is not a remote position.
  • The position may require work beyond 40 hours contingent on research responsibilities, research meeting schedules and client projects.
  • Multi-day and overnight travel is required and necessary for events that include, among others, research workshops hosted by DeMarche and due diligence meetings with key money managers every calendar quarter.
  • Work sponsorships and relocation are not available.
