A new role, the Director, Head of Portfolio Strategy:

Reports to the Chief Investment Officer and to the Chief Client Services Officer;

  • In collaboration with the Chief Investment Officer (CIO):               
    • Participates in investment methodology evolution, consistent with firm investment philosophy;
    • Contributes to development of strategic and tactical asset allocation strategies;
    • Creates and evaluates diversified model investment portfolios;
    • Develops macro and security specific investment research;
    • Participates in external manager analysis, selection and oversight;
    • Works closely with client service teams to develop investment policy statements and in portfolio construction;
    • Assists with management of common trust funds;
    • Supports implementation of CIO directives with investment teams and directly with clients;
    • Investment Committee member
  • In collaboration with the Chief Client Services Officer:
    • Develops and maintains multi-generational client relationships;
    • Provides sophisticated wealth management and investment advice;
    • Coordinates the development and implementation of investment strategies;
    • Rebalances and provides regular analysis of client accounts.

Importantly, the role is a key component of a long-range planning initiative to develop a backup and eventual successor to the incumbent Chief Investment Officer.  

  • +10 years relevant direct ultra-high net worth wealth management experience. Direct and substantial interaction with clients is required with significant investment policy experience;
  • Excellent and diverse understanding of global capital markets and economic trends.
  • Deep understanding of fixed income and equity fundamental analysis, asset allocation, portfolio construction and risk management for client portfolios in a fiduciary environment;
  • Extensive knowledge of investment management strategy, process and products, trust solutions, general financial and/or estate planning techniques and the ability to translate those theories and concepts for practical application in client relationships;
  • Experience and high degree of expertise in portfolio management for ultra-high net-worth individuals and families, including asset allocation (traditional, alternative asset classes and other illiquid investments), and tax management;
  • Sound understanding and experience with investment policy creation;
  • Strong computer and math skills with knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or similar field;
  • Master’s degree in finance, economics, or similar field a plus;
  • CFA®, required;
  • Additional industry or role specific designations a plus. Examples include, but are not limited to CFP, CTFA™, CAIA, etc.
