Infinera is a company that is growing, and the tax team is growing on a global basis with it. This position reports to the Director of Tax in Lisbon, Portugal. You will be responsible for the EMEA entities included in the global tax provision every quarter and coordinating with the global tax team to report the tax provision on a timely and accurate manner. You will also manage the filing of the EMEA tax returns with local service providers. Strong communication skills are going to be necessary in order to be successful. Key Responsibilities Include:

 

·        Manage the quarterly and annual tax provision (ASC 740) for the EMEA entities.

·        Assist with GAAP reporting for US acquisitions and integration of acquired entities.

·        Provide advice/support on tax issues arising from the business operation to ensure tax compliance.

·        Responsible to ensure that the related tax information is compliance with Infinera standards.

·        Provide technical tax accounting advice on various tax accounting issues on, but not limited to, intercompany transactions, business combinations, valuation allowances, leases and debt instruments.

·        Review the reconciliation and analysis of tax accounts for EMEA entities.

·        Prepare analysis and documentation supporting various tax positions in coordination with tax returns and financial statement audits.

·        Work with finance and statutory auditors and review tax related disclosure during year-end statutory audits.

·        Ensure compliance for all direct taxes in EMEA entities.

·        Manage the preparation and review tax returns from Local Service Providers for all EMEA entities.

·        Management of withholding tax obligations and related treaty applications or other reliefs.

·        Maintain knowledge of US GAAP rules and ensure proper application as part of the company's tax reporting processes.

·        Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.

·        Manage the operational relationship with direct tax authorities across the region, including the conduct of tax audits.

·        Regular review of tax risks and exposures in view of new tax regulation and environment changes.

·        Oversee preparation and review transfer pricing documentation and calculations in accordance with developed policies and procedures.

·        Oversee preparation and submission of domestic and foreign BEPS/DAC6/Cbr filing requirements.

·        Participate in M&A planning and due diligence and manage tax accounting and integration into existing tax operations as required.

·        Develop and implement tax planning strategies to reduce tax expense, eliminate tax exposures, minimize audit deficiencies, and maintain a competitive effective tax rate.

·        Identify and drive process improvement projects within the corporate tax function.

·        Supporting process improvement and change management initiatives for EMEA tax reporting with an ongoing focus on data and technology.

·        Transformation, Technology and Automation – Support the evolution of the tax reporting function, tax technology tools, and support technology enhancements. On an ongoing basis, develop and implement process improvements for the global tax reporting process.

·        Supervise and collaborate with outside tax advisors on various projects, as required.

·        Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

 

A minimum of 10 years of experience in a large CPA firm or large multinational company

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration

Master’s degree in Taxation a plus

Detail-oriented and excellent follow-through skills

SAP experience a plus

Experience in tax provision software a plus
