The Audit Director - US Consumer Operations and Fraud is a senior level management position responsible for contributing to the strategic direction of Citi's Internal Audit (IA) function, in coordination with the Audit team. This role is also responsible for managing multiple teams of professionals. The overall objective of this role is to direct audit activities for a subset of the US Consumer businesses with a primary focus on Consumer Operations and Fraud business units in accordance with IA standards, Citi policies, and local regulations.
Internal Audit is a global organization of over 1700 professionals covering Citi's global businesses and service to clients and customers in over 180 countries. Citi's Internal Audit division provides independent assessments of the company's governance, risk management and internal control environment for key stakeholders including the Board of Directors, senior management and Citi's numerous regulators globally. Internal Audit is a change agent within Citi aimed to enhance the control culture of Citigroup worldwide and thereby support senior management decision making around the globe.
The US Consumer Audit Team covers all aspects of the retail banking, cards, mortgage, or asset management lifecycle including audit coverage of product development and product implementation across all channels including through branches, phones, and digital channels. This also includes originations, servicing operations, compliance, third party oversight, and risk management. The team consists of approximately 60 professionals located in Florida, New York, Texas, and India.
The Audit Director - US Consumer Operations and Fraud is a senior level management position responsible for contributing to the strategic direction of Citi's Internal Audit (IA) function, in coordination with the Audit team. This role is also responsible for managing multiple teams of professionals.
Responsibilities:
• Develops and executes a robust Audit Plan for assigned businesses, that considers the evolving and emerging risks, in accordance with Internal Audit standards, relevant government statutes and regulations and Citigroup and Citibank policies.
• Delivers multiple concurrent audits to specification, and ensures the delivery of audit reports are complete, insightful, timely, error free and concise
• Analyzes reported findings and identifies thematic issues and trends to independently report control environment assessments. Represents Internal Audit in relevant governance forums including Boards and Committees
• Contributes to the ongoing evolution and innovation of continuous auditing through the development and deployment of automated testing routines
• Contributes to the delivery of reports outlining IA's contributions, and oversee audit's coverage and reporting on common high risk areas
• Provide independent assurance on the design and operating effectiveness of an area, at a global or regional level
• Ensure timely delivery of comprehensive regulatory and internal audit issue validation, including issues arising from other external parties
• Ensure IA meets/exceeds expectations, and support and drive IA's and management's efforts
• Improve the identification, measurement, management, reporting and controls in governance, risk and control environments
• Support and endorse the Quality Assurance (QA) function of IA, and resolve issues found by QA, improving audit processes and coverage
• Ensure the adoption of Citigroup and Citibank Audit Committee Charters and the IA Charter, and engage in internal/external negotiations
• Oversee various tasks to build the audit team, including recruiting staff, developing and training the team, and managing the budget
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
• Uses excellent communication skills in order to influence a wide range of internal audiences including respective product, function, or regional executive management partners
• May negotiate internally often at higher levels on matters which will have a major impact on the area managed
• Demonstrates strong judgment, political astuteness, and sensitivity to cultural diversity
• Possesses strong project management and interpersonal skills, makes sound decisions, exhibiting initiative and intuitive thinking. Consulted often by others for advice and opinions and recognized as a leadership role model.
• Participates in major business initiatives and pro-actively advises and assists the business on change initiatives
• Frequently involved in matters that require complex judgments and solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought such as identifying solutions for a variety of complex and novel audit control issues.
• Recommends appropriate interventions where needed. Proposes creative and pragmatic solutions for risk and control problems. Partners with peers and other IA partners to develop approaches for addressing broader corporate emerging issues.

Qualifications:
• 15+ years of experience in a related role
• Related certifications (CPA, ACA, CFA, CIA, CISA or similar) preferred
• Demonstrated success in business, functional and people management
• Demonstrated success in spearheading cross-functional or interdepartmental strategic initiatives
• Demonstrated success in the innovation of continuous auditing through the development and deployment of automated testing routines
• Consistently demonstrates highly effective clear and concise written and verbal communications
• Demonstrated ability to remain unbiased in a diverse working environment
• Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views.
• Must be an articulate and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with an energetic, charismatic and approachable style.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of internal and external audit and management.
• Specific subject matter expertise regarding solid business understanding of Consumer Banking products and the associated servicing and operations. Audit experience covering consumer banking products offered through digital channels or experience developing analytics solutions is a plus.
