About this role

Are you able to imagine the first step towards solving a business challenge? Can you quickly pivot to a different approach? Do you enjoy expanding an existing business with your expertise? Look no further, come join our Institutional Product Development team! This new role would involve developing and building out a new function within the US focused specifically on our Alternative products.

The Institutional Product Development team within the Global Product Group ("GPG") is currently responsible for product development across our Hedge Fund, Collective Trust Funds ("CTF") and Canadian Pooled Funds enabling growth and innovation, discipline and focus across investment product lines. We partner closely with Product Strategy, Client Business, and Corporate Functions to drive opportunities through to funding and across product lifecycle events. The comparatively small size of the team offers the opportunity to assume significant responsibility as team members work closely with senior investment product professionals across all functions and interface with other BlackRock teams.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Drive the success of BlackRock's Alternative products launched in the US by managing new product development and product lifecycle events
  • Collaborate with teams inside and outside of BlackRock Alternative Investments ("BAI") on proposals for potential product launches and changes to existing products
  • Build consensus across internal stakeholders
  • Identify, evaluate, and tackle potential obstacles and risks
  • Advise on structuring and oversee creation of legal docs
  • Design and implement minimum standards for launching new alternative products, including appropriate resources to support new business
  • Partner with BAI and GPG colleagues in other regions to ensure global alignment and consistency of processes
  • Acquire and maintain a thorough understanding of BlackRock's processes, operating environment and investment products and communicate unique requirements of our Funds to business partners

What we look for:
  • Results-oriented self-starter focused on execution with ambitious work ethic and professional disposition
  • Passionate about problem-solving and continuous learning.
  • Willing and able to learn new toolsets and approaches as business needs change
  • A standout colleague who takes a collaborative approach to tasks, but is also comfortable working independently
  • Organized and precise, with the ability to prioritize effectively, multi-task quickly and efficiently adapts to new situations in a fast-paced environment
  • Thrives in analytical and collaborative settings and can provide essential infrastructure support across BlackRock's Alternatives product platform

Skills and requirements:
  • BA/BS required (MBA, JD, or CFA is a plus)
  • 6+ years of work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects to completion
  • Familiarity with Product Development and/or closed end fund structures is preferred
