Position Description:

Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) seeks a Senior Data Science Associate for its New York, NY location. Job ID 29393

Duties: Employ analytical techniques that support management in decision-making and policy formulation, and improve sales and marketing campaign effectiveness for a portfolio of financial products and services. Conduct data preparation, analysis, and a variety of data mining techniques using SQL, Python, Jupyter, and Spark in a Hadoop environment to derive meaningful insights from data. Code analytical models for data analysis, predictive analytics, machine learning and clustering using Python and SQL. Troubleshoot and assess the impact of erroneous data on model results, develop solutions to correct the root cause. Engage in analysis and visualization of data using statistical techniques to evaluate effectiveness of sales and marketing campaigns, and communicate findings for CRM, reporting, and business analytics. Evaluate analytics vendors, including their products and services. Mentor junior team members on data science skills and activities. Research and develop client profiling and develop insights from new datasets.

Position Requirements:

Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, and three (3) years of experience in the position offered or related position. Academic coursework or experience must include: conducting big data analytics to perform predictive analytics and working with business intelligence/data analysis of data warehouse to gain insights on client/user behavior; utilizing Python to code machine learning models that classify and predict client behavior for system optimization; utilizing advanced database skills to build data architecture for storing results from analytics output; querying and preparing data using optimized approach, and working with SQL, Oracle, HIVE, DB2 databases; utilizing Spark/Hadoop and Python coding to identify erroneous data, and suggesting solutions to correct the root cause; interpreting Business use cases and translating business requirements into technical specifications to develop solutions that meet business and client needs; coding prototype model solutions for data analysis, predictive analytics, machine learning and clustering using Python and SQL; and utilizing SQL and relational database concepts, Python, Jupyter and Excel.
