Position Description:

Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) seeks a Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager for its Newport Beach, CA location. Job ID 29394

Duties: Invest broadly across fixed income markets with a focus on corporate credit across benchmark oriented and absolute return long/short portfolios. Develop, present and execute investment and trading strategies for various fixed income, corporate credit, and interest rate financial instruments, within the global financial markets. Execute investment and trading activities across fixed income securities with a focus on U.S. corporate credit, corporate bonds, and derivatives. Trade and manage liquid credit beta products including IG CDX, HY CDX, Tranches, credit options, ETFs, and TRS. Undertake trade execution, relative value assessment, and idea generation for the firm as an integral member of the global credit portfolio management team. Work closely with the Credit team to formulate views on best portfolio construction across a range of credit and generalist portfolios, and conduct quantitative research, financial analytics, and financial modeling to develop short- and long-term financial forecasts and generate related strategy and trading recommendations. Research, analyze, and execute investment strategies across macro credit instruments including equities and rates. Conduct mathematical modeling of portfolios by assessing portfolio risk, position weights, and financial products against client guidelines and benchmarks, and re-balancing portfolio models to target weights as necessary. Prepare daily research notes and request market updates on trading levels, news, and opinions for local market movement, and support account managers by updating existing accounts based on market conditions, philosophy, process, and performance. Communicate with internal and external parties to provide portfolio summaries, analyses, and recommendations. Support and drive new business development through marketing in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Work closely with account managers and compliance officers ensuring that individual accounts are managed within financial regulatory guidelines and restrictions. Demonstrate a strong understanding of macro-economics and credit selection.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Finance, Engineering or related field and five (5) years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience in position offered or related position. Required experience must include: strategizing portfolio/risk management and optimization, including generating investment recommendations; analyzing relative value in corporate credit instruments and investing across corporate bonds, loans, credit default swaps, total return swaps, CDX Index instruments and ETFs; applying probability theory and inference methods to analyze and develop trading strategies in generalized probabilistic frameworks; using trading software, data management tools, and programming language including Bloomberg, SQL, and Python; using Excel, VBA, and SQL to perform financial modeling and analysis including historical backtests, scenario analysis, correlation analysis and tail risk analysis of various financial instruments; communicating with internal and external parties (i.e. clients, issuers, bankers, lawyers) regarding investment strategies or activities; trading credit products: single name CDS, CDX products like Credit Indices, Credit Options, Credit Correlation Products, ETF, or TRS; and developing and trading various option strategies.
