Position Description:

Do you love databases, SQL, database infrastructure/technology and computer science? This position may be for you. The PIMCO database team is looking for an Oracle database expert, to help lead management of PIMCO's database systems. Ability to work in a fast paced environment, providing both production & development support. This position will work closely with various development groups across the firm, and should demonstrate his/her ability as a technical SME on the team.

Duties:
  • Design, build and automate scalable, performant, and secure database solutions for the firm.
  • Provide production support, solutions and expertise for Oracle, Exadata & Golden Gate.
  • Ability to troubleshoot difficult production issues quickly.
  • Work closely with various development teams across the firm to ensure proper use of Oracle features, best practices, and adherence to PIMCO database standards.
  • Train and mentor developers in Oracle development methodology & best practices, specifically on 19c.
  • Tune complex Oracle SQL proactively & reactively as required. Be able to rewrite SQL queries where necessary.
  • Design, implement, and maintain capacity planning for PIMCO database systems.
  • Help design, maintain, improve and implement monitoring tools.
  • Handle DBA tickets, user requests, routine support and maintenance.
  • Ability to work off hours / weekends as required.


Position Requirements:

  • 3+ years in a technical leadership position. Ability to drive architecture decisions and communicate those to management.
  • 10 years of experience as a DBA/DBE/DMA, including Oracle RDBMS 19c.
  • 5 years of database development support & and SQL tuning experience.
  • 5 years of production experience with Oracle Exadata is required.
  • 3 years of experience with Oracle Golden Gate is required.
  • 2 years of public cloud experience required (Snowflake, RDS Oracle, Aurora PostgreSQL).
  • Understands Exadata specific concepts and proven record of accomplishment in implementing Exadata specific features.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of SQL skills, infrastructure automation and database tuning on VLDBs.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor is Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Management Information Systems, or equivalent.
