Job Details
Overview
The primary function is to manage a number of fixed income index funds within fund and corporate guidelines.
Other aspects to the role include client facing interaction, contributing to investment ideas, index research and strategy in order to help drive the index business forward.
Responsibilities
- Lead manager for fixed income index funds which span US government, MBS and US credit markets
- Take responsibility for the maintenance, operation and adherence to risk and compliance requirements of the funds
- Analyze and implement decisions on cash flows, corporate actions and index changes
- Produce and deliver investment reports on the funds managed, including reporting on tracking error and performance attribution
- Meet with prospects, clients and consultants to discuss index proposition
- Liaising with the index strategy team to produce thoughtful, independent research and client specific materials
- Research various topics such as factor based indexes, trading and value-add strategies
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience of index portfolio management, with detailed knowledge of US government, Securitized (specified pools and TBA’s ) and US credit markets.
- Familiarity with the main index providers, index construction rules and the different methodologies
- Knowledge and awareness of alternatively weighted indexes in the factor-based and ESG domain
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, strong knowledge of Bloomberg and familiarity with third party risk and pre-payment models
- Knowledge of the various Bank and Non-Bank maintained fund structures available to different investor types
- Preferred experience in trading MBS instruments
- Experience of being the main investment person for clients and prospects
- Preference for experience of participation in finals presentations
- A self-motivated and conscientious team player with strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
- Programming skills (e.g. VBA) preferable
- Undergraduate level education
- CFA and/or advanced degree desirable
