Harding Loevner is seeking a Research Analyst to expand further its coverage of publicly listed stocks of Chinese companies. Harding Loevner’s equity research entails the careful study of individual companies and the global competitive dynamics of the industries in which they operate in order to identify high-quality, growing companies. Working collaboratively while enjoying substantial intellectual autonomy, analysts develop and present investment recommendation within the firm’s common analytic framework, which includes structured risk and competitive analyses, long-term financial forecasts, and a CFROI-based valuation. Analysts’ contributions are measured and rewarded objectively, on the basis of the quality of analysis and the subsequent performance.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate their understanding of publicly listed stocks of Chinese companies, especially those listed domestically, and their ability to convert financial statement analysis and forecasts into superior stock selection.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating independently. The role will interest candidates who appreciate working within an environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration and critical thinking, and rewards employees for initiative and their independent investment results.
Harding Loevner analysts are currently based either in Bridgewater, NJ or in our small, satellite London office.
Requirements:
- First hand experience working in China
- Solid understanding of investments or a deep knowledge of an industry or sector
- Outstanding academic record; CFA charter or MBA
- Fluent in Mandarin
- Capacity to make independent judgments
- Ability and desire to undertake frequent overseas travel when possible
