POSITION

The Global Relationship Group ("GRG") in Japan works directly with clients, consultants, and prospects in the Pensions, Financial Intermediaries, and Financial Reserves markets to develop and advance the business strategy for each of the team's relationships. GRG's mission to meet and/or exceed the service expectations of our clients. GRG members work cross functionally within Wellington Management to help deepen the relationships with clients, consultants, and prospects.

Relationship Analysts (RAs) work for one of our business channel and must be knowledgeable about the markets in which their clients operate. RAs collaborate with Business Developers, Relationship Managers, Account Managers, Business Manager and other Analysts as a team to interact frequently with clients: by phone, via written communication, and in-person.

The position open at this time will focus on managing and growing relationships within the Japan Financial Intermediary business channel. In time, the successful candidate may advance from Relationship Analyst to other client-facing roles, including Account Manager.

Role and responsibilities

This position is responsible for supporting our relationship management efforts. Accordingly the Analyst will work closely with Relationship Managers in support of a number of assigned clients, responding to ad hoc inquiries, undertaking market research, and preparing for client meetings.

This position has frequent interaction with clients and will be expected to conduct analysis, initiate research, and respond to inquiries on a wide range of topics, often under significant time pressure.

Incorporating product knowledge with firm awareness, the Analyst will be required to effectively communicate client expectations with a variety of internal constituents including: investment administration, legal and compliance, portfolio management, product management, client administration, trading and other functions. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be passionate about both client service and investments, and be knowledgeable about the global capital markets or possess a strong interest in acquiring such knowledge. An interest in the business of investment management, a desire to work in a team-based and collaborative environment, and an analytical orientation are also required.

Additional qualifications for this role include:
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of professional experience, with basic investment and capital market knowledge
  • Previous, direct experience supporting client relationship will also be viewed positively
  • Strong verbal and writing skill in English is required
  • An MBAs or CFA (or progress towards either) would be viewed favorably


Sound business judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to express oneself in both individual and group settings are a must. Likewise, the ability to communicate in a creative manner is a required skill set.
