POSITION
We are seeking to recruit an experienced Research Associate (RA), who will be based in Singapore or Hong Kong working alongside a Global Industry Analyst based in Boston, as part of the broader utilities, telecom and energy team in the Global Industry Research group. The successful candidate will be expected to help cover Utilities and Telcos in Emerging and Developed Asia. Over time responsibilities would be expected to grow, potentially leading to independent coverage. The role offers the opportunity to help the firm generate alpha through focus on this universe and offers a distinct path for the experienced Associate.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities for this position will include the following:

• Performing continuous due diligence on Utilities and Telecom companies in Emerging and Developed Asia
• Staying abreast of important macro and government policy developments in these countries
• Creating and maintaining detailed financial models to aid in analyzing existing and prospective investments;
• Attending company meetings, investment industry conferences, and conferences specific to area of coverage;
• Completing complex analytical projects under tight time constraints;
• Maintaining the integrity of industry and comparative valuation models;
• Contributing to written research; and
• Making investment recommendations to global investment teams

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a self-directed, hard-working team player with a passion for both the utilities and telecom industries and investing in emerging and developed APAC markets. This position is appropriate for an individual with strong analytical capabilities, good financial modeling skills, and an eagerness to apply their expertise in support of Wellington's Global Industry Research Team.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• An undergraduate degree with a strong academic record;
• 3+ years of investment research experience, ideally within the Utilities and Telecom industry
• Sound judgment, strong work ethic and highest personal and professional integrity;
• Be disciplined with a strong bottom-up fundamental approach to research
• Demonstrated analytical ability;
• Self-awareness and resilience to be comfortable when wrong
• Ability building relationships and collaborating with experienced, cross-functional investment teams
• Ability to work independently where needed and make decisions in the face of uncertainty;
• Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize time well;
• Strong attention to detail;
• CFA or progress towards completion of the CFA;
• Fluency in English required; fluency in Mandarin Chinese preferred
