Senior Trader, Northern Trust Securities    82014 Requisition #    Apr 16, 2020 Post Date Summary Executes stock trades with minimal market impact. Ensures that each trade is handled equitably and settled properly. Monitors securities prices and communicates them to portfolio managers when necessary. Monitors market place developments to maintain up-to-date knowledge of the investment industry. Informs portfolio managers of alternate trading strategies. Major Duties 1. Executes stock trades with minimal market impact. 2. Ensures that trade orders are executed fairly and equitably (e.g. prompt execution without bias toward originating source). 3. When appropriate, apprises portfolio managers and other appropriate parties of relevant information affecting securities prices (e.g. trading volume, etc.). 4. Ensures that trades have appropriate information to settle properly. 5. Records, measures, reviews, and analyzes trading performance, commission payments and soft dollar commitments. 6. Responds to client and partner inquiries as needed. 7. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of applicable rules and regulations governing investments and trading. 8. Conducts trading activity with the speed and accuracy required to obtain the most favorable execution. 9. Monitors trading procedures and functions of subordinates. 10. Monitors relationships between portfolio managers and traders to ensure accurate and acceptable communication and trading. 11. Develops and refines trading procedures and custom reporting to clients. 12. When appropriate, follows index constitutions and advises portfolio managers to make changes. 13. Recommends trading alternatives. 14. Ensures that appropriate enabling documentation is in file and that appropriate procedures and conventions (i.e., levels of collateral etc.) are followed. Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of investment instruments, general industry practices, market structures, execution and measurement techniques, trust trading guidelines, regulatory environment and specific securities laws and regulations, usually acquired through completion of a four year degree or work experience, to ensure the most sophisticated level of trade execution for clients. Knowledge of the context in which trading activity occurs (i.e., favorable and unfavorable effects of various transactions on stock price, etc.), acquired through work experience, to execute trades with minimal market impact. Ability to recognize circumstances calling for difficult execution methodologies. Experience Series 7 Required Required 4-6 years experience within the trading process in a fiduciary environment, college education strongly preferred and participation in Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program or MBA program preferred.
