Job Purpose:
The newly formed Newton Portfolio Implementation Team is responsible for implementing investment views across portfolios. This will entail facilitating trade order generation across and within asset classes using both physical and derivative instruments, managing the day to day positioning of portfolios, including managing cash flows and periodic rebalancing.

This involves working closely with multiple points of across the business such as investment teams (including portfolio managers and dealers) and operation teams (including investment operations, client operations and transitions). The Analyst will be responsible for providing active support to portfolio managers on the "day to day" running of their portfolios, and is be expected to be fully acquainted with investment and dealing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
•Working closely with portfolio managers and dealers to implement investment views in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring efficient trade execution across portfolios in general.
•Managing trade orders from the receipt of the portfolios managers' instruction through to completion, including the subsequent correct reflection on to Newton's investment management systems.
•Developing an in-depth knowledge of Charles River and ThinkFolio investment management systems.
•Oversight of cash inflows and outflows, to ensure efficient execution of investment mandates and client instructions.
•Managing rebalancing of portfolios in a timely and effective manner.
•Ensuring implementation gaps are identified, monitored and actively addressed.
•Monitoring mandate restrictions and portfolio compliance and liaising with Compliance and Investment Control where necessary.
•Liaise with account managers and investigate problems and queries with accounts.
•Support manager analysis and portfolio construction in data analysis as required.
•Assist with both internal and external portfolio reporting as required.

Risk & Compliance Responsibilities:
•Maintaining a best practice approach to job responsibilities in order to mitigate risk and avoid operational losses, assist with reviewing and maintaining up to date procedures.
•Ensuring appropriate level of personal training and threshold competence levels are maintained. A minimum of 35 hours of logged CPD is required on an annual basis.
•Adhering to the in-house Code of Ethics which forms part of employment contract, and which includes the following key polices: Management of Conflicts of Interest, Treating Clients Fairly, Confidentiality of Client and Business Information, Handling of inside Information, Personal Account Dealing, Disclosure of Outside Interests, Provision or receipt of Gifts, Events or other benefits.
•Ensuring any changes in Job description in personal information or circumstances, any promotion, any exam or training courses are provided to HR.

Experience and qualifications required:

Technical knowledge and experience:
•Degree educated or equivalent
•3-5 years investment industry experience
•Strong Microsoft Excel skills, understanding of VBA or Python desirable but training supported
•Knowledge of Bloomberg desirable but training supported
•CFA or IMC advantageous, but studying would be actively encouraged and supported

They will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as in depth investment knowledge and a keen interest in financial markets and instruments, along with the following attributes:
