MD, Head of Product & Profitability - Specialist Services (open to any RBC geographical location - eg Ireland, Lux, London, Toronto)

What is the opportunity?
Responsible for the overall product strategy & P&L for RBC Investor & Treasury Services for Specialist Services (Private Capital Services PCS, Transfer Agency TA, Middle Office, Risk & Investment Analytics R&IA & Data Service)
  • Assess available market intelligence and develop RBC I&TS positioning to ensure best in class client experience end to end (market share/NIAT objectives, coverage interaction, product and service experience)
  • Analyse and articulate client feedback (direct and externally gathered) with respect to our client's product and service experience, and refine RBC I&TS "Go To Market" story and product/service roadmap
  • Guardian of the product standards and owner of all product change, including interpretation, approval and prioritisation - including product, regulatory, client & operational change
  • Ensure RBC I&TS' product organisation for Specialist Services (PCS, TA, Middle Office, R&IA & Data Service) and strategy are viewed as thought leaders in the industry (clients, peers)
  • Detailed analysis of P&L for products and understanding of all client onboarding and product change impact on P&L
  • Develop sustainable, ongoing information gathering framework in relation to client satisfaction with current RBC I&TS product suite and expectations for future product delivery
  • Expert on industry groups, media positioning and I&TS Steerco's as requested by the Global Head of Digital Client Experience, Product & Marketing; one off initiatives as required by the Global Head of Digital Client Experience, Product & Marketing
  • Client design for non-standard client onboardings for Specialist Services (PCS, TA, Middle Office, R&IA & Data Service) with Client Experience teams.

What will you do?
Responsibilities for managing the team of Specialist Services (PCS, TA, Middle Office, R&IA & Data Service) in accordance with the applicable Conduct Rules by :
  • Driving a culture of integrity by promoting open, honest and transparent dealing in the day-to-day operations of the Specialist Services (PCS, TA, Middle Office, R&IA & Data Service) function including escalation as appropriate
  • Adhering to organisational and administrative arrangements in order to manage conflicts of interest
  • Identifying, escalating and remediating issues within the Specialist Services (PCS, TA, Middle Office, R&IA & Data Service) function that could directly or indirectly lead to the unfair treatment of customers
  • Utilising the open and effective channels within the Specialist Services (PCS, Middle Office, R&IA & Data Service) function for the escalation and reporting of issues both at the regional / functional level as well as at the requisite governance committees
  • Ensuring the reporting of breaches of the relevant requirements of the regulatory system in a timely and appropriate manner to the Global Head Digital Client Experience, Product & Marketing and the Compliance and HR functions
  • Adhering to mandatory training requirements and receiving necessary additional training as required and appropriate for their role
  • P&L and business casing of all development and tools - ongoing re-evaluation.

Outcomes Expected from Role and Team
  • Detailed Product roadmap - 2 years out. Including all change for; Product, Operations, Regulatory, Clients and T&O
  • Full and ongoing P&L analysis and impacts, i.e. drivers of revenue, NIE, market or country specificities, client specificities, impact and forecast on P&L of all change and onboarding
  • Market analysis - market share, competitor positioning and country / market specific
  • Issue and Risk Register maintenance and escalation for Product set
  • People / Talent Management practices fully up to date, e.g. Talent Assessments and actions, HiPo plans, Development Plans, feedback and engagement activities (in conjunction with HR BP on process and plan)
  • Training plans and approach for Product teams and for training business and function groups on Product and Product roadmap
  • Project ownership as sponsor with appropriate reporting (with PMO) of said projects
  • Audit trail on documentation of all key decisions and actions.


What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • BA or BSc in business, or other relevant degree
  • Extensive previous experience in industry
  • Sound technical knowledge of the financial services and securities industry
  • Proven curiosity regarding fintech and evolving investment industry.

Nice-to-have

  • MBA, CFA or post-graduate in business or finance would be a plus
  • Professional qualifications from a recognised industry body preferred.
