What is the Global Product Management group responsible for?

  Franklin Templeton’s Global Product Management group is responsible for providing leadership in ensuring that the firm’s investment products are positioned at the highest levels of investment market standards, and that this is effectively communicated internally and externally.

  What are the ongoing responsibilities of a VP, Senior Product Manager?   The Vice President (VP), Senior Product Manager for the North American Equity Product Management team will act as a liaison between investment management, distribution and our other internal business partners. In this capacity, the Senior Product Manager is expected to serve as a product expert and product champion for several US equity strategies.  

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert (SME) of the investment-related aspects of several US equity investment strategies and products to sales, client service, consultant relations, marketing, other business partners and external clients, acting as internal and external proxy for portfolio management representing their investment strategies across a full range of client sophistication levels. 
  • Promote the gathering and retention of assets under management by providing investment philosophy, process, and performance and cross-platform storytelling to various external (potential and existing clients, consultants and third parties) and internal (sales, client service, marketing, and consultant relations) audiences.
  • Formulates product strategy to reposition, extend and innovate the product line including product rationalization, launching new strategies and executing product line extensions. This also includes development of investment guidelines and pricing frameworks.

 What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful? 

  • CFA and/or MBA/graduate degree in finance or economics preferred
  • Minimum of 12 years product management or other pertinent industry experience, preferably with a focus on investment management, investment consulting or buy-side experience
  • FINRA Series 7 required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of distribution channels, investment vehicles and pricing structures
  • Significant experience in US equity asset class (style agnostic; specific knowledge of growth investing is beneficial)
  • Experience with fixed income, convertible bond, derivative securities and private investments a plus.
