DESCRIPTION:

As part of the Corporate Development group, the Senior Analyst will support, and in some cases, lead the financial analysis for transactions, strategic projects and other corporate growth initiatives. The Senior Analyst will work closely with the senior members of the Corporate Development Team and other internal and external stakeholders including accounting, finance, legal, treasury and business development professionals in performing their role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performing micro- and macro-industry and company research to assist with strategy development
  • Assist with development of prioritization and screening mechanisms for new opportunities
  • Prepare presentations for internal and external stakeholders to communicate strategies
  • Lead financial modeling, in-depth valuation and other analysis (with support from more senior staff)
  • Prepare both quantitative and qualitative reports on specific investment opportunities
  • Work with external financial consultants and advisors on opportunity review
  • Coordinate due diligence and project management on potential acquisitions and/or expansion initiatives (with oversight from senior staff)
  • Coordinate and track strategic relationships including financial partners, peers and key customers
  • Prepare materials for internal and external discussion on these relationships
  • Maintain tracking of ATCO Group growth opportunities
  • Lead processes for reviewing of opportunities and prepare materials for Corporate Development meetings
  • Complete other special projects or initiatives as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, or Finance is required
  • MBA, CFA, or CPA designation is preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in corporate development, strategic planning, management consulting, or investment banking; previous utility planning and analysis experience is an asset
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and forecasting skills including financial statement analysis
  • Proven organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects under tight deadlines
  • Strong business acumen including awareness of global business trends, and new business opportunities to assist in strategic planning process
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and third-party advisors
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English, as well as interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Advanced skills of using MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

High degree of personal responsibility and accountability; attention to detail and time management skills
