Position Summary
As a Credit Risk Analyst within State Street Global Advisors' Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team, you will provide an independent counterparty risk oversight across all asset classes and products offered by SSGA. As part of that you will be responsible for identification, measurement, and oversight of counterparty risk arising from trading and business relationships with financial institutions. You will also support the principal ERM objectives by completing detailed credit analysis and due diligence of SSGA counterparties to facilitate informed credit decisions, monitor counterparty exposures, raise and mitigate identified risks.
In this role you can anticipate substantive interaction with several global business functions, including Investment, Trading, Product, Legal and Compliance, and will need to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. You will also work closely with our Technology Risk partners to drive improvement in productivity via automation and centralization of risk reporting, to execute our digital transformation strategy. You will drive a risk-aware culture throughout the organization by challenging the status quo and providing objective thought leadership to our organization and the financial industry.

Target Individual
We're looking for a team member with experience in credit risk analysis, specifically banks and broker dealers. Knowledge of credit risk management practices is a distinct advantage along with understanding of capital markets products such as OTC derivatives and ETFs.

Your Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of complex financial institutions identifying key risks and communicating credit concern when early warning signals arise. Ensure monitoring is in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Conduct comprehensive, independent risk analysis and assessment for large global complex banks and brokerage firms. Analyze industry, competitive landscape, historical performance, and trends in business. Identify, assess, monitor and report credit risk, mitigating when needed. Must possess knowledge and experience to perform detailed analysis of balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement. Proactively monitor creditworthiness of counterparties and market developments to determine ability of financial institution to meet its obligations.
  • Suggest methodologies for improving portfolio risk analytics in collaboration with Risk managers globally while streamlining efficiencies.
  • Ensure risk management and control standards are consistent with market best practice and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure that appropriate risk management information is produced and reviewed at appropriate intervals and to the relevant bodies (committees, boards, etc). Raise heightened or out of appetite risk to Global SSGA CRO, EMEA Head of Risk, and all appropriate governing bodies.
  • Aid in training junior staff and oversee staff, where appropriate, with any dual managers.
  • Examine Counterparty Risk Management issues and respond to ad-hoc requests from various business functions and senior management.
  • Oversee and ensure good quality and timeliness of outsourced Counterparty Risk services delivered outside of UK.
  • Collaborate with various teams to execute, expand and improve SSGA's overall risk management framework.
  • Promote and support a culture of effective challenge that drives a risk aware culture throughout the firm.

Your Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
To succeed in this job, you should have the following strengths:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics or business-related field, or equivalent experience is required; MBA and/or CFA, FRM designation or working towards such is preferred.
  • Multiple years of related credit and/or risk management experience in a financial service organization and/or regulatory examination capacity. Minimum of 3 years of credit analysis experience focused on financial institutions.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with others throughout the organization.
  • Communicates ideas clearly and efficiently, both verbally and in writing.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently under tight deadlines.
