What is the opportunity?
The Canadian Equity Portfolio Advisor will help RBC Dominion Securities ("RBC DS") investment advisors effectively manage client portfolios. You will work within a team of Portfolio Advisory Group ("PAG") equity advisors to provide comprehensive guidance with respect to portfolio construction including asset allocation, equity portfolio strategy and individual security selection. You will communicate the team's insights via day-to-day interactions, flagship written publications, in-branch presentations and client events. You will also assume a lead role in the management of PAG's Canadian equity mandates.

The ideal candidate would have strong equity portfolio management and/or research experience with a focus on Canadian equities. This candidate would possess an analytical mind, intellectual curiosity, a team-first attitude, exceptional communications skills and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What will you do?
  • Process a wide-array of research, news, reports, investment publications and company/analyst meetings to form independent investment opinions with due consideration to risks.
  • Provide personalized advice and support to RBC DS investment advisors with respect to security selection and positioning.
  • Contribute as a key decision maker in the stewardship of PAG's equity mandates and written publications including the daily notes, the Global Insight series and ad hoc portfolio strategy notes.
  • Prepare and deliver equity-themed presentations to RBC DS investment advisors and their clients.
  • Leverage RBC Capital Markets research resources by highlighting relevant analysis and maintaining strong relationships with analysts.
  • Collaborate with Investment Analytics colleagues to strengthen portfolio risk management oversight as well as develop tools to proactively monitor holdings, uncover ideas and identify risks.
  • Collaborate with Multi-Asset Advisory & Portfolio Practice Management colleagues to provide holistic portfolio management advice and leverage portfolio analysis tools.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment where teamwork, diversity of thought and mentorship are viewed as crucial ingredients to PAG's current and future success.

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher level education with a minimum of five years of experience in Canadian equity portfolio management and/or equity research (or similar).
  • CFA Charterholder or currently working on CFA.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to distill complex ideas into clear, relevant and timely advice.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Nice-to-have
  • French communication skills (both written and oral).
  • 10+ years of experience in Canadian equity portfolio management and/or equity research.
