Department Overview

The Wealth Finance department is accountable for the major financial functions of TD Bank Group's wealth business, providing: business planning, financial analysis, measurement, valuation, and risk assessment services. The Wealth Finance team works closely with the business and centralized financial expertise (e.g., Chief Accountant's Group, Enterprise Decision Support, Finance Shared Services, etc ) to provide quality expertise and advice consistent with overall TD Bank Group's financial strategy and objectives.

The Wealth Finance team provides Finance advisory support to the Wealth businesses including Direct Investing, Private Wealth Management, Financial Planning, TD Asset Management, WM Operations and Shared Services.

Job Description

The Senior Finance Analyst will report to the Senior Manager Advice supporting the Wealth Advice business lines (Financial Planning, Private Wealth Management). Collectively the Wealth Advice businesses represent 2,000+ front line Advisors that provide Wealth products and solutions to clients with over $230 billion in Assets.

The position will work primarily on the Financial Planning (FP) business. The main accountability will be managing the full month-end process with primary focus on management reporting, analysis of results and delivering insightful commentary to business leaders.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Thorough, accurate management reporting - Manage the month end close process and production of detailed monthly management reporting, including monthly business unit P&L's, management packages (bridges, dashboards, charts and graphs).
  • Prepare monthly revenue and expenses accruals for the FP business and ensure the reconciliation of key financial data to source systems is performed monthly.
  • Provide insightful interpretation of key business drivers underlying the business results, highlight key issues and make appropriate recommendations where required.
  • Development of new reporting and insights - Design and develop new reporting that provides greater depth of insight based on materiality and/or emerging themes
  • Ad hoc requests from the FP business - Support business sponsored initiatives and provide Finance perspective and expertise on business issues and challenges
  • Accounting policy process and control - Ensure appropriate controls exist for management reporting processes and support the business on accounting rules and Bank expense policy and procedures
  • Become a subject matter expertise with the FP business


Specific Educational Requirements / Accreditations
  • Professional accounting designation or financial designation (CPA/CA/CGA/CMA) preferred
  • Equivalent business degrees (MBA, CFA) also considered
  • Understanding of TDBFG financial systems would be an asset

Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a finance role
  • Strong analytical mind set with the ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Solid working knowledge of Hyperion, OBI and other bank financial reporting systems
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities, particularly during the month/quarter end process
  • Management reporting experience and the ability to evaluate performance on both financial and non-financial measures is a definite asset
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills and ability to work effectively with our finance and business partners
  • Highly self-motivated and detail orientation to solve issues or determine appropriate steps for timely resolution
  • Experience in writing reports, providing commentaries / analysis and preparing presentation decks for senior business leaders
  • Promote and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Previous wealth management industry experience would be an asset
