Job Purpose:
As part of Scotiabank Global Risk Management division, the Exposure and Capital Analysis (ECA) group is at the forefront of managing the Bank's capital market risk exposure across all products and geographies. This is a dynamic group as it must respond to changes in Bank initiatives as well as the market and regulatory environment.
The manager role in ECA provides an introduction to the capital markets business and exposure to the regulatory changes impacting the risk management framework. This high profile position involves leading key strategic initiatives for the purpose of adhering to new regulations, improving process inefficiencies and centralizing risk monitoring. Additionally, the successful candidate will be involved in implementing the "top of class" analytics for the counterparty credit risk and ensure ongoing integrity of the Enterprise Securities Aggregation data.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Lead and execute GRM's strategic initiatives and showcase accomplishments to senior management
  • Lead system design, testing and implementations for streamlining processes, product migrations and adding new business lines for reporting and reconciliation purposes
  • Liaise with Credit Officers, Banking and other departments to resolve complex counterparty credit limit monitoring issues, and reduce operational inefficiencies
  • Ensure ongoing data integrity of the Security Aggregation System (SAG) and Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR) system

Functional Competencies:
  • Knowledge of capital markets, counterparty credit risk and obligor risk
  • Knowledge of financial instruments and derivatives
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Good programing skills in SQL and Python
  • Capability to lead small and medium size technology projects.
  • Ability to craft and present strategic plans to senior management
  • Ability to build relationships to enlist support within the team and the Bank

  • Masters degree in finance or quantitative field (economics, mathematics, engineering)
  • Completion of CFA/FRM an asset

This is a 1-year contract.
