The Banking Group is comprised of a number of industry groups which work closely with product team members in Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity Capital Markets, Real Estate, and other industry groups throughout the Firm to provide relevant market insight, product creativity, and execution expertise to clients. These solutions include initial public offerings; public and private equity and equity-linked financings; mergers, acquisitions and restructurings; defense advisory assignments; strategic partnerships; public and private debt placements; share repurchases; and hedging, swaps and derivative transactions.

When clients need equity capital, Equity Capital Markets (ECM) responds with market judgments and ingenuity. Whether executing an IPO, follow-on, private placements or PIPEs, ECM Syndicate integrates market and investment banking expertise, offering clients seamless advice and sophisticated solutions. The team:

  • Broadens awareness of the issuing company through our distribution capabilities
  • Includes syndicate members that have the potential to become additional market makers
  • Work with company management teams to strategically price each offering in the best interest of the issuing company and its new retail and institutional investors
  • Continue the relationship with the issuing company post-offering.

Our New York City office is looking for an Analyst to join the Equity Capital Markets Syndicate team.

Job Description
Assisting in the execution of transactions across the following: Initial and Follow-on Public Offering, Private/Public Placement, Rights Issues and Block Trades. This is an ideal role for someone wanting to grow into a Junior Deal Captain on a Syndicate desk with a high level of exposure
Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting deal executions through launching transactions to the salesforce, liaising with sales and trading personnel and tracking investor feedback
  • Analyzing and presenting deal data for senior level management teams as well as institutional clients
  • Managing the operations process for all deal types which includes liaising with internal and external operations teams, legal counsels, internal compliance, treasury, and equity sales and trading personnel
  • Running the operational book building process through the IPREO Equity Book Build system
  • Generating and tracking P&L for each equity deal, including syndicate expense accounting, and liaising with other underwriters
  • Supervising relationships with external selling groups members
  • Facilitating new account openings with banking, client management and risk teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Finance field or related analytical discipline
  • Interest in developing a career in Equity Capital Markets
  • Exceptional ability to multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment with tight-deadlines
  • High level of motivation and proactiveness with a team oriented, no task too small attitude
  • Elevated attention to detail and consistency in work product
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Expertise in MS Excel (Macros, VLookUps, Pivot Tables) and Powerpoint
  • Series licensing or must obtain within 6 months


Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher degrees such as MBA, MS or CFA, a plus
  • Knowledge of Investment Banking, Equities and/or Operations
  • Experience with Dealogic, IPREO EBB, Bloomberg and/or Tableau
