UTIMCO’s Public Equity team is looking for a full-time Analyst. This is a pre-MBA position ideally suited for individuals with strong financial and analytical skills. UTIMCO’s Public Equity Investments program currently oversees over $18 billion in equity and fixed income investments globally.  The majority of capital is externally managed (i.e., Public Equity staff does not select securities or make direct investments, but rather allocates capital to external investment managers). The Analyst will be responsible for assisting the Public Equity team with analysis and research. 

Broad responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and prepare reports on external manager performance, exposures, and holdings
  • Assist with and participate in regular reviews of the portfolio, including analysis of the portfolio’s performance and risk characteristics
  • Assist in researching and analyzing existing and prospective managers
  • Maintain knowledge of the equity and fixed income markets and, in particular, events that could affect the portfolio.
  • Provide general support to team members on various research, strategy, and reporting projects as necessary
  • Conduct ad hoc projects (e.g., research on specific countries, sectors or managers) as necessary
  • Communicate effectively with other team members and promote a true team atmosphere

Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of prior work experience in a finance or investment-related field (e.g., investment banking, sales and trading, investment management, accounting, corporate finance/development, risk management, operations)
  • Major or significant coursework in finance or accounting (particularly important for less experienced candidates)
  • Unquestioned honesty, integrity, and transparency
  • Evidence of strong interest in investing and portfolio management
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Excel and in financial applications (e.g. Bloomberg, Factset, CapitalIQ, PowerPoint)
  • Represent UTIMCO in the marketplace with the highest professionalism
  • Superior commercial judgment, a track record of success, and intellectual curiosity
  • Basic programming skills in financial industry computer languages (e.g., Matlab, Python) are valued
  • Diversity (e.g., demographic, socioeconomic, personality type, educational background) is valued
