Job Details

To facilitate a sound capital markets strategy in the credit and counterparty risk management of Navy Federal, including monitoring and evaluation of the creditworthiness of our financial business partners, debt issuers, guarantors and obligors. Assist senior analyst in making decision regarding the creditworthiness of external institutions and entities.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess and manage wholesale credit and counterparty risk and viability of debt issuers, guarantors, obligors, and/or vendors
• Conduct independent and detailed debt issuer, sector and industry research
• Evaluate changes in financial, economic, regulatory, legislative and competitive environment to determine impact on creditworthiness of debt issuers, guarantors, obligors, counterparties and/or vendors
• Analyze and monitor key financial metrics, industry trends, company performance, and evaluate external factors that could impact revenue, cash flow and credit profile
• Analyze annual reports, SEC 10K, 10Q, FOCUS and/or FFIEC Call Reports and/or financial statements of debt issuers, guarantors, obligors, counterparties and/or vendors
• Recommend changes to credit ratings and provide justification for analytical results and changes, develop and maintain historical and projected financial models
• Conduct comparative fundamental analysis using current industry, geographic or market data (e.g., liquidity, profitability, and credit history)
• Develop and maintain historical and projected financial models
• Manage collateral of all Navy Federal counterparties to include reconciling differences/disputes and managing margin calls
• Collaborate with middle office operations to coordinate margin calls and review and verification of data files for risk modeling software
• Maintain training documentation, historical files, internal procedures and assists with updating policies
• Conduct research and analysis; make recommendations
• Contribute to a culture of collaboration by actively working across business lines, communicating knowledge and business processes to other business units
• Stay abreast of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and industry laws, regulations and guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications – All required unless otherwise noted

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, or the equivalent combination of experience, education and training
• Working knowledge of financial and credit markets, fundamental credit analysis, evaluating creditworthiness, and accounting principles
• Familiarity with fundamental analysis of financial modeling of structured products and macroeconomic analysis
• Effective skill analyzing statistics and reports to determine business performance and trends
• Exposure to one or more of the following areas: credit/counterparty risk, financial/capital markets or risk management
• Familiarity with factors driving performance of the industry
• Effective research, analytical, and problem solving skills
• Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
• Effective skill working with diverse internal and external contacts
• Advanced word processing and spreadsheet software skills
• Effective skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy and tact
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Experience demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative-taking, decision-making and creativity solving business problems
• Effective skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Effective skill with business writing to include credit analysis reports
• Desired – Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field
• Desired – Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
• Desired – Experience working in a capital markets environment preferably with fixed income instruments
• Desired – Bloomberg API or MS Excel advanced modeling skills
• Desired – Working knowledge of Bloomberg, Trepp and/or Intex
