Job Description

What You'll Be Doing
As an Executive Director, Capital Markets Finance, you will provide high quality reporting & advisory support to the Global Markets management team on financial and business performance, planning and forecasting. This includes reporting & analysis of the financial resources (e.g. revenue, expense, leverage, assets, liabilities, & FTE), planning and forecasting, performing/providing insights to Actual to Plan and DFE to GL variance analysis, and assessing the financial performance and developing financial plan for initiatives.

How You'll Succeed
  • Reporting & Analysis - review daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly financial results and provide high quality, insightful and timely analysis of financial performance for Global Markets businesses. Provide continual insight and support the effective management of Balance Sheet, Funding/Liquidity and Capital Resources (RWA, Leverage and Economic Capital). Ensure that reporting and analysis keep pace with the changing business and environment.
  • Planning and Forecasting - lea d and coordinate the development of the financial strategic and business plans for Global Markets. Work closely with business heads, Risk and Capital Management, to ensure reasonableness of market assumptions and impact of expected regulatory changes to ensure successful execution. Understand and review allocations to the business and be able to work closely with the counterparts in other areas of the bank to challenge allocations and ensure they are reasonable.
  • Business Initiatives - w ork closely with the business leader to provide sound financial advice on strategic and tactical initiatives and projects. Assume a leadership role on certain complex projects and analytical initiatives that support the objectives of the business. Provide advice to the business leaders to support initiatives associated with reaching performance goals.
  • People Management - set appropriate context when assigning work to ensure that individuals' roles support the achievement of the business unit's priorities and CIBC's overall goals. Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect. Hire the right people in the right jobs to align individual capabilities with job requirements and business unit goals.

  • You can demonstrate experience in leading and coordinating the development of financial business plans. You have proven expertise and detailed knowledge of the capital market products, in-depth understanding of IFRS 9, IFRS 11, Basel regulatory framework, strong financial accounting knowledge and the ability to comprehend complex accounting issues and summarize them for business leaders. Strong problem solving, analytical, judgment and change implementation capabilities. Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with the business leaders as well as peers in Risk Management, Treasury and other areas of Finance
  • You're a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing as a CPA, CFA, MBA or other related degree.
