What is the opportunity?
Playing a critical role in portfolio risk management with RBC Dominion Securities, Canada's leading investment firm, the Portfolio Risk Advisor works closely with the firm's Portfolio Managers across the country to help identify and resolve risk issues within discretionary accounts to ensure a prudent approach to portfolio construction and management.
What will you do?
- Drive proactive risk identification and mitigation by conducting relevant risk assessments for discretionary managed accounts with RBC DS and RBC PC USA
- Review Investment Policy Statements for consistency with each business' Investment Management Guidelines
- Provide ongoing advice and support to Advisors to ensure understanding of processes, guidelines, regulatory requirements and the development of sound Investment Policy Statements to further the goal of prudent portfolio construction and management
- Provide input into the ongoing development of investment guidelines
- Support and provide key input into the enhancement and development of the systems supporting monitoring activities
- Stay abreast of evolving regulatory standards to ensure impact is understood and implemented as necessary
- Work with key partners in business, compliance, legal, operations and technology in support of the ongoing delivery and execution of all monitoring
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and French
- At least 5 years of investment experience in a private client discretionary environment
- Solid understanding of capital markets with an emphasis on portfolio risk analysis
- Strong knowledge of both provincial and IIROC requirements for discretionary managed accounts
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage time and priorities with a client-focused mindset
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation
Nice-to-have
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
- Direct client service experience in a discretionary investment role, an asset
