What is the opportunity?

As an important member of a newly established team at RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM), you will have the opportunity to be a key contributor and influencer in the early stages of the creation and build out of a comprehensive "Private Markets Investments" platform. RBC GAM has approximately CAD$465 billion in assets under management (AUM) and is committed to continued innovation for its global clients. A key focus for RBC GAM is to expand its capabilities in private markets and other illiquid asset classes, including real estate and mortgages. We are excited about the growth potential and ultimate scale of the private markets platform at RBC GAM.

The existing platform is currently a blend of both real estate and mortgage investments, including the RBC Canadian Core Real Estate Fund (an open ended $1.5 billion diversified fund with a contractual growth trajectory to $4.0 billion over the next 3 years) and a variety of mortgage funds which collectively total CAD$8.0 billion in AUM.

What will you do?

Existing Platform Oversight:
  • Support the management, performance and reporting requirements of the existing real estate and mortgage funds
  • Contribute to the regular strategic planning process at both the asset class level and at the fund level
  • Lead the preparation and communication of regular client reporting materials and internal reporting requirements (Real Estate Fund Investment Committee)
  • Work with both Individual and Institutional client facing channels to support client education, product reporting and future fund raising efforts


New Product Development:

Potential new initiatives include expanding in to global real estate, new domestic and global mortgage products and other new complementary asset classes in the private markets platform at RBC GAM.
  • Develop new product outlines for preliminary discussions with the various client channels
  • Coordinate the New Product Approval Process
  • Work with the distribution channels to develop the necessary operational infrastructure and marketing materials
  • Oversee the pre-investment client presentation process in partnership with the distribution channels
  • Support the product teams through to successful launch


What do you need to succeed?
Must Have

  • 10 years of work experience in the real estate industry; experience in institutional quality and global real estate is an asset
  • University degree in finance or a related field
  • Leadership and governance experience
  • Direct experience in the financial and/or operational management, transaction, financing and/or development of commercial real estate
  • Strong real estate market knowledge with a proven ability to identify and underwrite risk while performing with high attention to detail/accuracy under deadlines
  • Technically proficient in MS Office and real estate reporting and valuation software. Advanced skills in large scale data analytics is beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills


Nice to Have
  • CFA Charter holder and/or CPA designation
