Your role:

Are you interested in the challenge of bridging data science and investments? Do you approach decision making with a data and technology first attitude?

We're looking for a Fundamental Scientist to help drive data science into the fundamental investment mosaic by:

• analyzing and solving problems with data science for fundamental investment teams
• communicating our data science capability set to the fundamental investment teams
• understanding the pain points that can be solved with data science for the fundamental investment teams
• developing products and applications that produce unique insights using data science
• contributing to global team projects through both insight and analysis

Your team:

You will be working in the Quantitative Evidence and Data Science (QED) team which has a mandate to drive data science into the fundamental investment process in order to create better outcomes for our clients. As a fundamental scientist within the QED team, you will be the bridge between the traditional fundamental manager and our engineering team.  You will work directly with investment analysts to understand their theses and then figure out how to apply data science to those ideas in order to generate a more robust outcome.

Your expertise:

• knowledge of the Python Scientific Computing stack is a requirement; specifically pandas, numpy, scipy, scikit-learn; working knowledge of Tableau is a plus
• ideally 3-5 years of experience in finance or a quantitative field
• basic knowledge of the investment process and an intuitive understanding of what drives markets; a plus if you have experience working on an investment team
• strong statistical skills, demonstrated either through coursework or through previous work experience
• CFA or on track to complete the CFA program is a positive
• good communication skills with a demonstrated ability to seek to understand clients' needs
• creative and able to demonstrate porting mental models from one domain to another
• insatiable hunger for learning and self-improvement
• bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics or a quantitative discipline
• keen to take the initiative with innovative, solution-oriented thinking that makes an impact
• fluent in English
