The Team:

The Market Strategy Group is a global team focused on cross asset investment strategy and macroeconomic analysis. The team researches, develops, and communicates our investment and economic views to internal constituents, clients, and the media on behalf of the global J.P. Morgan Private Bank.

The team's goals are to:
  • To help clients make better, more informed investment decisions;
  • To position J.P. Morgan Private Bank as the leading provider of capital markets & economic insight; and
  • To help JPM's advisors prospect, build stronger relationships with existing clients by adding value to the relationship, and uncover opportunities with clients through an active, ongoing dialogue with them about capital markets


The Role

Based in Hong Kong, the Vice President will conduct market and economic analysis, generate high quality content for publications, support and test market views, and clearly communicate investment views across the global platform. The candidate must have the initiative to assume responsibility for tasks outlined below and the skills to execute these tasks independently with attention to quality and accuracy.

The individual will be responsible for researching and analyzing economic or market data, and be adept in using data analysis techniques including Excel, Bloomberg, and Haver, and/or other tools to contribute to an analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and articulate global cross-asset and macroeconomic strategy views
  • Help drive the creation of macroeconomic strategy thought leadership with an emphasis on publications for both internal communication of trends and for external marketing support, including media.
  • Deliver economic and investment strategy presentations to clients and prospects;
  • Active contributor in determining asset class views and return/risk forecasts by conducting financial and economic studies and analyses in support of investment decisions. Assists in training sales force on economic and market issues and how to use our data in addressing these issues and tying them to investment solutions.
  • Keep senior strategists (who are often travelling) up-to-date on latest market developments and important data releases.
  • Assist in the implementation and curation of the daily morning meeting, including managing content, prep calls and logistics.

Requirements

  • Strong academic background in international economics/finance or in a related subject
  • Demonstrated expertise on China's economy/markets with either experience or an ability to build expertise on greater Asia
  • Previous experience in cross-asset analysis and macroeconomic research
  • Solid communications skills in both writing and presenting. Ability to communicate complex ideas simply and with clarity, wide ranging topics from macroeconomics to geopolitics.
  • Inquisitive, organized and able to work independently and have an appetite to venture out of the narrow asset class limits and to explore cross-asset ideas and implications
  • Proficiency in Bloomberg, and other commonly used data sources is a plus such as Haver
  • Comfort speaking with JPM sales force on the phone and in person.
  • CFA candidate or desire to pursue advanced degree/designation is preferred.
  • Fluency in Mandarin (Read & Write)
