The Role: Sr. Director, Index Intelligence
The Location: New York, New York

The Team: The Index Intelligence team, part of S&P DJI Index Governance which oversees over 50 index committees.
The Impact: Become an integral analytical resource to index committees globally. Each committee is responsible for a number of indices, and must review corresponding index methodologies annually. The person in this role will provide value-added analysis to enhance the rigor of annual methodology reviews. This person will also support our index consultation process by collaboratively working with index committee chairs, index managers, and commercial stakeholders to identify analytical content that will enhance the quality of S&P DJI consultations.

What's in it for you:
  • You will collaborate across teams to identify and deliver robust analytical content for use by index committees, other internal stakeholders, and clients.
  • In addition, you will use your analytical skills and creativity to determine relevant value-added analyses across a range of indices covering all major asset classes and securities globally.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve index committees by performing and presenting analytical reviews of index families including returns based style analysis, contribution and/or attribution analysis, holdings based metrics, benchmark comparisons, and competitive analysis, and others.
  • Support other analytical needs such as providing content for Advisory Panels, working with index managers to standardize consultation content and respond to client inquiries.
  • Enhance the analytical content of major index methodology consultations.
  • Coordinate with the S&P DJI Research & Design Group when changes to an index are indicated and further research is requested by index committees.

What We're Looking For:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in business, math, economics, or finance
  • Strong understanding of global financial markets
  • 10+ years of professional experience in analytical roles, particularly involving portfolio performance and holdings analyses.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, collaborate across groups and manage multiple projects.
  • Understanding of specific use cases of financial indices as benchmarks or as the bases of financial products.
  • Strong understanding of the impact of different methodologies on both indices and financial portfolios.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CFA Charterholder or significant progress toward Charter
  • Experience across asset classes
  • Ability to understand the effects of different index construction methods on the likelihood of indices to meet their objectives.
