YOUR IMPACT

The Knowledge Management (KM) Team sits within Investment Banking / Corporate Advisory and works alongside deal teams to provide industry and sector research relating to projects. The team aims to be experts across sectors with the ability to lead idea generation and to be at the forefront of information, news or reports released on our clients or related industries. The ability to recognize trends and develop in-depth knowledge of an industry enables the team to be ahead of the curve for future deal potential.

Investment Banking heavily relies on providing clients with sector / industry and market knowledge to provide the best advice to its clients. The KM team is accountable for providing this content and expertise. The successful candidate will come on board as a Knowledge Manager Associate (KM Associate). The position is a rewarding experience - one that provides an excellent foundation for individuals interested in research and building their industry knowledge.

The KM team covers a range of industry sectors including Natural Resources, Technology, Media & Telecommunications, Financial Institutions, Healthcare, Consumer Retail and Real Estate.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with our deal teams to ensure an exact understanding of their requirements and provide concise and focused research via internal 3rd party databases, GS Research and external sources as required
  • Continue to develop and improve the process and practice of knowledge and content management within APEJ. Contribute to the development of standards and practices that allow our deal teams to focus their time on advising clients by minimizing repetitive, non judgment tasks
  • Analyze external data to allow our deal teams to further differentiate our advice.
  • Contribute to the development of KM and Corporate Finance analysis tools, using both 3rd party and SecDB, to improve junior bankers' desktop experience and the efficiency of their workflow
  • Provide guidance for bankers in accessing, compiling, manipulating, and downloading data from databases available on banker desktops
  • Maintain strong relationships with our 3rd party vendors
  • In partnership with Compliance and Banking Technology understand and explain copyright and data usage issues
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with excellent academic credentials
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in finance, economics, commerce or law; CFA a plus
  • Previous Knowledge Management work, or experience in Equity Research or Consulting preferred
  • Experience working with Banking, Big Four consultancy and/or managing vendor relationships
  • Experience with 3rd party databases, such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Thomson Reuters, Wind and other industry specific databases preferred

  • Functional Expertise - Keep up-to-date with emerging business, economic, and market trends (a history of industry or sector expertise a plus). Demonstrate an ability to execute in-depth research and to quickly accumulate industry knowledge.
  • Demonstrate the ability to direct and review research findings and come to a conclusion, not just report data; and to boil down extensive research findings into relevant insights and analysis
  • Technical Skills - Demonstrate mastery of relevant market databases, possess strong technical analytical and quantitative skills, pay attention to detail, and take the initiative to broaden own knowledge
  • Judgment and Problem Solving - Think ahead, anticipate questions, plan for contingencies, find alternative solutions, identify clear objectives and make defensible judgments regarding workflow.
  • See the big picture and effectively analyze complex issues
  • Communication Skills - Strong communication and interpersonal skills: communicates what is relevant and important in a clear and concise manner and share information/new ideas with others
  • Client and Business Focus - Effectively handle difficult requests and help the client to identify/define needs and manage client/business expectations
  • Creativity/Innovation - Look for new ways to improve current processes and develop creative solutions that are grounded in reality and have practical value. VBA programming a plus
  • Influencing Outcomes - Present sound, persuasive rationale for ideas or opinions. Take a position on issues and influence others' opinions and present persuasive recommendations
  • Teamwork - Give evidence of being a strong team player, collaborate with others within and across teams, encourage other team members to participate and contribute and acknowledge others' contributions
