We are seeking to employ a Research analyst to work within the London-based Global ESG/SRI research team. Sat within Independent Research, the person will be responsible for: producing high-quality Investor-focused ESG Research; helping the global Citi Research broader Analyst team produce sustainability-related research product, thought-leading thematic research, and in so doing help further integrate ESG analysis into Citi's existing investment research product, both in Europe and globally. In addition to furthering the ESG team's external franchise via direct contact with Institutional clients , the successful candidate will also be expected to develop a strong personal franchise within Citi's equities advisory and distribution business. The role will also involve interaction within Citi at a corporate level and with other divisions on sustainability-related themes.
Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for: Contributing to the production of high-quality ESG Research by the Citi ESG Research team. Collaborating with sector Analysts globally to help integrate market-leading ESG- fundamental research across sectors; the production and analysis of corporate ESG metrics databases, and integration with other Citi research databases. Responding to client requests. Driving mind share through both thought-leading written product and Investor meetings. The role will be expected to assist with marketing written product and ideas to Citi's equity sales & trading platform and to our global Institutional client base.
Knowledge/Experience:
  • Three years or more relevant financial services, consultancy and/or specific sustainability-related experience. We are particularly interested in candidates who have prior experience of the SRI/ESG space, and with experience of stock coverage and the investment decision-making process (including buy-side or sell-side investment firms). However, experience of one and a sufficient interest/knowledge of the other will suffice for candidates with the right experience and qualifications. Knowledge of the SRI client base also an advantage though not a prerequisite. Relevant financial qualifications (such as CFA, MBA, ACA etc) will also be taken into account.
Ideally the candidate will have a majority of the following skills:
  • Domain experience or knowledge in one or more ESG relevant field (such as: broad sustainability, climate change, human rights, governance, etc), with the drive to help shape the Investor debate re Sustainability going forward
  • An ability to gather, manipulate and interpret large amounts of numerical data.
  • A proven track record of rigorous analysis and genuine thought leadership.
  • Financial literacy. An awareness of financial analysis, financial modelling and valuation techniques
  • An interest and understanding of stock markets and of sustainability, and how the two interact
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of the client base and their requirements, with an ability to develop relationships
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure
  • Ability to meet difficult deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
