Demonstrates proven extensive knowledge of, and/or success in roles directing functions or projects involving, actuarial aspects of commercial and government programs and issues in a major consulting firm or corporate environment, emphasizing areas that include pricing/underwriting, health plan financial reporting, data analysis, and compliance.
  • Excel and database/statistical analysis language (SQL or SAS) is a plus
  • Communication skills and ability to work with management and senior level executives at other organizations
  • Ability to help identify client issues and resources needed to solve problems
  • Analytical thinking skills to evaluate analyses for communication to clients
  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial and/or supplemental health products

Some sample engagements and responsibilities include:
  • Analyze clients medical claim data to understand historical trends and suggest opportunities to implement savings initiatives
  • Evaluate a clients end-to-end risk adjustment process, evaluating the return on investment for each operational activity and vendor
  • Develop predictive analytics to help identify gaps within a health plans coding procedures and optimize their revenue stream
  • Create a strategic roadmap with clients entering a new line of business or market, including the development of a proforma
  • Analysis of a companys financial statements finding opportunities to enhance their reporting
  • Support payers and providers as they move down the value based care continuum and identify impacts to their cost structure and operations
  • Support mergers and acquisitions by evaluating a targets financial statements and develop a quality of earnings adjustment to provide insight into the targets expected future earnings potential
  • Complete IBNR reserve analyses and assess actuarial balances as part of year-end financial audit for health and life insurance companies
  • As an actuarial technical professional, demonstrates ability to research business and industry trends to develop a point of view to leverage in assisting with proposals, considering opportunities across multiple lines of service

Demonstrates knowledge of automation & digitization in a professional services environment including but not limited to:- innovating through new and existing technologies, along with experimenting with digitization solutions;
  • Working with large, complex data sets to build models and leverage data visualization tools to provide insights to clients;
  • Utilizing digitization tools to reduce hours and optimize engagements
  • Knowledge of alternative fee arrangements, including the use of pricing tools, to provide a point of view on pricing strategies.
