We are seeking a Senior Account Specialist, Corporate Lending to join our tight knit and focused Corporate Lending team. This is an opportunity provide credit structuring and risk management for a portfolio of syndicated corporate clients within a diverse geographic market.

How you’ll spend your time:

  • Supporting the strategy and client experience through effective and timely credit underwriting for new and existing borrowing opportunities.
  • Delivering exceptional syndication partner experiences at every interaction and executing on plans to continuously build our credibility with other syndication partners, in line with CWB’s brand promise.
  • Directly supporting the Corporate Lenders to develop creative, competitive client solutions, leveraging internal partnerships and specialists where appropriate.
  • Working with the Corporate Lenders to establish pricing, terms of credit, produce ongoing credit reviews and risk ratings that reflect knowledge of CWB policies and procedures.
  • Assisting the AVPs and Senior Managers in identifying potential ancillary business for CWB. Actively referring to other business partners both within branch banking and across CWB.
  • Proactively managing risk with prudent lending recommendations, including appropriate/timely monitoring and due diligence.
  • Providing efficient and effective operations with strong data integrity including strong collaboration with other CWB teams.
  • Assessing credit applications, ensuring they provide a high quality of risk assessment, credit structure, due diligence and overall presentation.
  • Assisting the Credit Risk Management team with the management of negative trending accounts with consolidation, as required.
  • Fostering and promote a positive environment that supports a fun, high-performing and diverse workforce.
  • Facilitating effective interactions with Managers, Commercial and/or Senior Managers, Business Development and CRM to recommend appropriate credit structures and optimize operational efficiency and provide a seamless and positive client experience.

This career may be for you if:

  • You are a degree holder in business, finance or another related field (or have equivalent experience).
  • You are working towards or holding a professional designation such as CFA, MBA, or CBV.
  • You have spent a minimum of three years in commercial banking and/or business lending, including direct experience with commercial credit underwriting.
  • You have well-developed skills in financial statement analysis and knowledge of effective risk mitigation strategies for credit underwriting.
  • You are all about people. Be it your clients or your colleagues – you like communicating and connecting with others to provide solutions and build real, lasting relationships. You have a history of getting the job done, and a track record of closing the deal.
  • You have demonstrated your credit writing abilities and are an expert communicator both written and verbally.
  • You’re a technology user with strong skills in MS Office, focused in Excel, with the ability to work with complex financial models created by corporate borrowers or lead lenders.
  • You have demonstrated your ability to manage multiple complex engagements simultaneously, and to prioritize your work and efforts effectively.
