The Senior Credit Officer position requires the candidate to approve and subsequently monitor the credit risk of their assigned portfolios.

  • Review new credit requests that are originated/analyzed by front office (1LOD) and recommend/opine on requests while summarizing Credit Assessment Group comments on a timely basis
  • Ensure that credit risks assumed by the Bank are properly identified, assessed, measured and managed/mitigated
  • Properly manage concentration risk at the single-name level and at the portfolio/regional level
  • Monitor credit quality post-origination on both a single name and portfolio basis using all available tools/sources of information
  • Use all necessary/available tools to validate all requests, ratings, loss given default values in a timely manner
  • Actively participate in the Watch List review process and maintain a regular dialogue with the Asset Recovery Team on general trends, specific issues and names in primary portfolio
  • Gain a good understanding of all internal industry guidelines and other transversal or regulatory guidelines to ensure that all requests comply therewith. In the event there is a breach, identify it in your comments, determine materiality thereof and escalate as required
  • Escalate appropriately
  • Stay abreast of economic developments and market conditions that impact industry sectors and core names
  • Develop an active dialogue with other RISQ Officers in Europe or Asia with the goal of sharing information and thoughts on business line activities, relevant industry developments, and attaining a common RISQ approach across all teams


  • Profile Required

    COMPETENCIES
    Required:
  • Demonstrated thought and execution leadership.
  • Strong analytical background, with deep and demonstrated experience in Energy/Infrastructure sectors (oil, gas, electric, LNG, renewable projects); single/pooled-asset transportation (toll roads, rail, airport, seaports); plus, one of corporate, fund, commodity (Trade Commodity Finance), structured multi asset financing, or leveraged loans
  • Subject matter expert with an ability to develop and evolve strategic risk appetite for a sector, asset class or business
  • Demonstrated proactive credit risk management and track record of problem recognition
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate messages effectively and succinctly
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a dynamic, deadline-focused environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism in all situations
  • MANAGERIAL SKILLS
  • Ability to mentor junior resources
  • Ability to build constructive working relationship with 1LOD and other internal groups
  • Challenge effectively and constructively 1LOD

  • TECHNICAL SKILLS
    Required:
  • Strong understanding of credit debt/derivative risk analysis
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE
    Required:
  • 15+ years working in a Credit Risk or similar role where credit approval authority has been provided
  • Previous managerial experience, building and motivating teams
  • Experience working with internal and external regulators/auditors
  • EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree
