What is the role?

This is an exciting opportunity to join RBC's internal consulting team, which partners across the Enterprise to enable and accelerate business strategy, goals, and transformation efforts, through an integrated suite of services focused on growth strategy, cost/efficiency strategy, business optimization, and transformational capability building.

The mandate of Strategy and Transformation Services (STS), a division of RBC, is to drive enterprise optimization and support business transformation by using collaborative approaches to solve the complex business issues with our partners in the platforms and functions. We build enduring partnerships powered by a diverse talent pool with financial services and transformation experience.

In this role, you will build strong business relationships, while delivering transformational and sustained change on initiatives of varying size, scale, and complexity. Further, you be able to utilize the many coaching and mentoring opportunities unique to the Strategy & Transformation Services (STS) culture.

What will you do?
  • Translate internal business partner requirements into sound and innovative recommendations; making good decisions based on a strong understanding of business and consulting concepts
  • Proactively identify financial benefits such as revenue streams or cost saving opportunities
  • Play an active role in facilitation activities (e.g. workshops, interviews, etc.)
  • Gain the position of trusted advisor with colleagues and business partners by providing strategic advice
  • Manage work streams and present engagement deliverables with quality and within agreed upon timelines
  • Recognize business complexity and help facilitate trade-off decisions to prioritize appropriate actions to achieve work stream objectives
  • Demonstrate techniques to build consensus with differing views in a constructive manner and if applicable, applying appropriate escalation practices
  • Communicate effectively, using proper business and financial language
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis using frameworks, approaches, tools and methodologies and develop robust recommendations
  • Raise risks / issues and provide solutions to minimize their impact on work stream timelines
  • Openly share engagement learnings and delivery methods across STS and the Enterprise

What are the qualities of the preferred candidate?
  • Ideally 2+ years strategy or consulting experience in a Consulting Management, Financial Services, or Entrepreneurial environment, or other comparative experience
  • Post-secondary degree (preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, other related discipline)
  • Microsoft Office proficiency - MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Some quantitative analysis experience (e.g. data analytics, business case creation, financial modelling, etc.)
  • A passion to deliver impact through collaborative change
  • Consistently demonstrate a willingness to learn, develop and grow as a consultant
  • Honed ability to develop and manage relationships with stakeholders
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, and a strategic mindset
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys working with colleagues and clients of all levels
  • Comfort working in a dynamic environment with complexity and ambiguity
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including developed capabilities as a communicator and influencer

Nice-to-have
  • Post-graduate degree - MBA/EMBA, Masters in finance, economics, accounting or a similar field
  • PMP, CPA/CMA, CA, CFA or any other finance/risk accreditations
